Nankang NS-II versus Hankook V12
Nankang NS-II versus Hankook V12
I'm on the verge of getting new wheels, so I'm also in the market for new tires. I've been running Falken fk452 for a few years now. I think they're decent. I don't track my car, nor do I drive it aggressively. My (rear) Falkens have lasted me about 25k miles, and I'm looking for something that matches or exceeds that treadwear. Road noise is pretty important. I'm also looking to spend as little money as possible at this time. Here are my options:
Hankook V12 225/35/20 245/35/20 = $502 shipped
or
Nankang NS-II 225/35/20 245/35/20 = $454.62 shipped
These tires will be going on a 9.5x20 offset -7 and 10.5x20 offset 0 wheel. g35 coupe.

I can honestly say the Nankangs are hands down the worst tire I have ever used, from a performance standpoint.
From Goodyear Eagle VR's to Michelin to Dunlop to Kumho's, etc.
Hard rubber, tread smaller than measurement, poor dry and dangerous wet grip, and loud.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

I'm dropped 3" on my sedan with slightly out of spec camber F/R and I'm going to get at least 30K out of my Hankooks.
I wouldn't touch Nankang tires with a 10' pole, especially when the Hankooks are $50 more.

if those are the two tires you are considering solely on the fact that you want to spend as little $$ as possible, i would go with the hankook over the nankang. The rating on the nankang in 20" in 200 whereas the V12's rating is 280. if you drive like you say you doand do frequent alignments, etc, the v12s will get you further. never had nankangs nor will i ever, had v12s before, fairly happy with them.
I would get the Hankooks.
I did have a set of Nankangs. They were loud, but I the also had hundreds of miles of hard hard driving on canyons alone and hundreds of launches at the track and held up fine. I only got them cause they were a steal. I had Michelin PS2's prior to that.

I love my nankangs.
-5 degrees of camber, almost 10k miles and there is still a tonne of tread on the shoulders.
Personally I don't give a **** about road noise, if you ARE worried about how quiet the ride is, you bought the wrong car and you should have bought a Lexus.
BUT they are **** in the rain and if you drift them the tread will peel off. But for daily driving they are my go to tire and that won't be changing, unless hankooks magically stop bubbling and falkens cut their price in half and stop bubbling.
