New custom center caps

I thought maybe somebody would want to see the custom center caps I designed for a set of Axis wheels. The wheels are the Hiro design and are 19's. The center caps were not to my liking however so I created some new ones with a set of factory Infiniti caps and a careful drill and tap session. This is not for the faint of heart but I think it came out great! Sorry for the bad pics but it was an overcast day and I had just washed the car. Enjoy and feel free to email me any questions.

Sure! The Axis caps are held in by three allen bolts and the other three are cosmetic; they're threaded into the cap, not the rim. The Infiniti caps are just a tad too small to stay in the hub bore by themselves and then you're stuck with those aforementioned three nasty looking threaed holes anyway. So, I used the Axis piece as an indicator for where to drill the three new holes and I drilled and tapped them with a metric bit. The allen bolts when threaded into the rim hold the Infiniti cap tightly in place and look nearly stock. There is just a bit of dremeling on the Infiniti cap where it meets about two of the allen heads but it is very mild. I've put over 2,000 miles on this setup and everything is tight as a drum and looks great.

Thanks for the compliments. I didn't realize how much I didn't like the Hiro center caps until they arrived at my doorstep. Why is there a hole right in the middle? For water, mud and dirt to collect and leak out ensuring the rim always looks mussed? I called Axis to see if they offered any alternatives and the answer was no. So, customization was my only choice. Still, $2400 for a set of rims/tires and to not have them be perfect is a shame. Then again, perfect to some may not be perfect to others...

Yeap same idea here too. I didn't like the look of the carbon fiber center with my wheels.
