depends what needs you're going for. if you want plain out performance an 18" wheel would be best. however, 18's look too small on a coupe (IMO). you could get performance from a 19" wheel also, but they have to be a very good brand (e.g. Volk Racing, Racing Hart, SSR, Work Wheels, japan rims). reason is because they're made stronger, and lighter (e.g. forged, semi-forged, as opposed to all cast). 20's look awesome, but you'll be riding on rubber bands if you drop it lightly, unless you modify your fenders (e.g. cutting/rolling). i understand you love the black chrome/black rims, and suggest looking into either brands i've posted. they all have a black chrome/black like finish. if you want chrome, i'd suggest you choose something that is forged instead of cast because of the weight. but that's just my own opinion.

<a href="http://www.speedstar.co.jp/">SSR</a> provides great chrome wheels that are forged, as well as <a href="www.worksuperwheels.com">WORK</a>wheels. The other brands, <a href="www.rayswheels.co.jp">VOLK</a>, <a href="dazzmotorsports.com">RACING HARTS</a>, are what i'd usually choose from.

I'm currently on Volks, but might change to Work's.

I don't understand how people think 20's have thinner tires than 19s. We use pretty much the same width and aspect ratio as most 19" wheel users.

My setup consists of

245/35-20
275/35-20

My vote is for 20's. Even if you don't lower it, the wheels will look great.

With your set-up you have maintained the stagger - But, the overall diameter of the wheels is 1" too big. If that works for you, fine.

Bigger than stock wheels yes, that I agree on. I have absolutly no problems with that. I didn't get these wheels to lower my 1/4 mile times. I got them to look good.

But my gripe, if you can call it that, is that several people naturally think that 20" tires are extreme rubber bands, whereas 19"s aren't. Last time I checked, most people with 19's are running the same size tires that I run.

Imo, the stock 18's look great and looks better if you lower the car a little bit.
But they are pretty heavy.

With 19's you'll probably want to lower it as the wheel gap becomes more
pronounced...but the stock 19's look pretty good because the offset and width
aren't as agressive as aftermarket.

That's my take.

19's are ideal. I think a very few people who get 20's know what they want and know what they are doing. But most people just think to themselves that they want the biggest size possible. Bigger than stock options. The bigger the better right? Not exactly. Theres a reason companies like Porsche and Mercadez dont put 20's on their cars.

Here are my suggestions:

18's w/ a 1.5" F and 1.2" R
19's w/ a 1.2" F and 1.0" R
20's w/ no drop

All 3 should look good (assuming you have nice wheels of course)

Can't agree, Porsche sells their GT with 19s on the front and 20s on the rear. That's the setup I'm seriously considering. I understand from from several wheel distributors, this setup would not be a problem for the VDC.

'05's stock 19" are very light and well made. Wait until they are available on ebay.

thanks for all the replies...well im not new to the whole rim "fad" going on, i have oversized rims on my blazer right now so i understand the probs i might run into, i have the stock performance rims, but im pretty sure they are only 18s, what it comes down to is that i want a nice deep dish rim and not have to worry bout lowering my car, yet have very little wheel gap.I just want something classy looking and not ghetto like all these escalades and hummers i see every 2 feet.
