I am sorry if this sounds like a really dumb question, but I am lost when it comes to the Dimensions of rims.
I am looking for rims that have a nice 2 inch lip in the front and about 3 inch lip in the back, How does that equate to OFFSET ?
Also I have a Coupe 5AT and i want to use my stock tires jsut want to change out my stock rims to WORK SS - VV rims.

Also when they say a rim is 18 x 8 that means the rims i 18" in diamater by 8 inches WIDE correct?
Then where does the bolt patterm dimensions come into play?
I know x4 is 4 lug and x 5 is five lug but whats the number in front of the x 4 represent
Example : 114.3 X 4.

114.3 represents the bolt pattern for that wheel ie what its's drilled to.
Offset: The distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel.
Here is a picture to show wheel terms to make this understandable as I did'nt know anything about this either before the G.

Thanks smokeator that clears up a few things, would you happen to knwo what exact dimensions I would need to get a Wheel to have a nice 2 inch lip up front and a nice 3 inch lip in the rear using the 18 inch pilot tires?

I can't remember, is it the higher the mm for the offset, the more the rim sticks out?
I would want mine to be flush of course and I've noticed many sizes are available in the low 20's mm for 19's, would that be fine?

FWIW here is some info RE: Lip size..............
While offset & rim width definitely have an effect on available lip;
Lip size is also related to the design of the wheel face.
If a design has more curve to it, this will give you more lip.
Some wheel makes (usually multi piece) offer different faces for the same wheel.
eg. Volk SF Winning come in three faces (A,B, & C)
each has a different curve.
Face curve or shape also impacts brake caliper clearance.
I think Volk recommends face "A" for big brake applications.
(flatter = less lip)

Awesome, thanks for the information I have no changed my mind to go witht he PIAA super Roza multipiece rims. I will most probably go with the 19inch 19x 9 fr 19x 10 rear setup. I will have to see if there are different faces for this rim. Great information guys, i appreciate it.

Many companies refer to the face as disk. High, Medium, Low disk. Some even have super high disk.
