Offset issue and Brembos are rubbing
Hello everyone im new to the forums. My name is Steven and im a proud and happy owner of an 04 6MT Brembo coupe. Ive owned the car for about 2 years now going on 3. So like an idiot i purchased a set of wheels from an individual who was taking them off of their 2013 scion tc with an offset that i didnt realize would properly function on my car. The wheels are Varrstoen es1 19x9.5/e22 and 19x10.5/e25s. When i went to mount one of the fronts on i immediately realized they were touching and although they barley rub on the fronts and ive yet to see how they mount on the back but im sure they will rub as well. My question is this. If i were to purchase a set of H&R wheel spacers w/studs that come in 5mm,10,15,20,25,30 what is the minimum amount of space i need to clear these wheels from rubbing on my Brembo brakes for both the fronts and the backs. Im thinking at LEAST 5mm?

I mean... it depends on how much they are rubbing by. It doesn't sound like much. I would think 5mm would do it, but pics would be needed for sure. Personally, 3mm of space between wheel and brake is enough - but others aren't comfortable with that little space. Put the wheels on and have the brakes between the spokes. Rotate the wheel around until it contacts the brake and then measure how much further out the wheels need to poke.
I find it odd these don't fit... I've run a very similar offset and size without issues.
This is 2mm of clearance. Driver reports no issues at all.

You could also do a cheap make-shift spacer by adding washers or bolts to the wheel studs and placing the wheel over them. This is only for measurement of a 5mm, 10mm, 15, etc spacer - don't leave them on there and bolt the wheel on. It's just to help gauge how much space you need and help to order the correct size spacer.

^ The shop I go to recommended 5mm of caliper clearance minimum due to under excessive braking (track/etc) the caliper supposedly expands. And if there isn't sufficient clearance, the caliper could smack the spoke and cause some crazy explosion to happen.
