My first nice car..what tires do you guys recommend?

Hey guys, I'm want to do things right with this car and figure this thread would know best. I just bought it used on Craigslist and it checked out alright and everything. I'm starting to get into cars, so I'm not super knowledgeable yet. I appreciate any input!

I need new tires and want a nice set that will last and perform well. It's a 2005 and has 19 rims with 87k miles. Also, I just moved to Arizona. I attached a pic for everyone. Thanks in advance!

Arizona meaning no snow.

Go to Tirerack.com and look at summer performance tires. Make sure to enter your exact car spec.

Looks like you have the G with the performance package, sport suspension, etc. Do all of your research on tire rack and then check your local tire stores and reputable eBay sellers. They may be around the same cost as Tirerack, and at that point they have the best service so are the obvious choice.

If Gary chimes in hell talk about Michelin pilot super sports till the end of the thread, wannabe6MT will talk about the hankooks, others love the Eagle F1's. It's all about preference...

GL!

Welcome to G35 Driver! Best place to buy tires is www.thetirerack.com since they sell tires at wholesale and they have a warehouse in Arizona. Thanks to the previous post you know I prefer Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The have a UTQG (wear rating) of 300 which will give you good tread wear and they're just sticky enough to make driving a blast! You can do a Search using the subject "Best Tires" and get a gazillion more opinions. Again Welcome and enjoy the ride!

Grats on the pick up. Continental DWS are good and very affordable.

Allot of people seem to be fans of Pilot Super Sport tires.
My problem with them is the price. I don't believe that performance they offer is worth the money they ask for it.

Just for a comparison here is a performance Vredestein tire that on paper offer better performance than Pilot Super Sport and still cost $40 cheaper per tire over Pilots.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti

Mitchelin Pilot Super Sport

What is your price range for a set of tires? Tire rack is your best place to start. They have test results for tires in every category. I myself prefer Hankook tires. Do not cost an arm and leg and perform quite well.go to tie rack and Reader test results for tires. And make your decision from that point.

I've only had experience, as far as summer tires go, with Bridgestone, Kuhmo, and Hankook. I had Kuhmo the longest and those handled every thing and every weather flawlessly.
Honestly I liked all three of those brands and couldn't really pick a favorite. They're all fun to drive on and performed as I needed so really it'll come down to finding the right deal for your price range.
Good luck man, either way you are going to LOVE this car!

currently Ebay seems to be the best place.
I use to get them from http://www.performanceplustire.com/, but they got greedy and raised their price once tire gained some popularity. Ebay is usually $40-70 cheaper per tire than I was able to find anywhere else.

225/40/19 for 216 shipped

245/40/19 for 225 Shipped (ea)

ONLY one seller on eBay. For such a great tire why is there only one person in the states that offers it?

Michelin tires will never let you down unlike other brands!

The add that Joker posted is 6 years old, knowing what eBay sells maybe these tires are that old? Tread design looks exactly like the Dunlap tyres I ran on my '83 Trans Am. No thanks, I'll stay with my 21st Century Michelin Pilot Super Sports...Gary

There are few other ones.

I honestly don't know why there aren't more. The seller I use to buy from currently does not even have my size. I don't know what is it about Vredestein and why they don't have a larger marketing campaign here in US, but I think they are missing out on a great market. They really have a fantastic product. I have not seen anyone who tried their tires, go back to brands discussed here. I certainly have not.

Don't be so hasty in your conclusions.
Tires are brand spanking new, fresh off the press (I actually decoded the numbers on them once)
Not sure which add you are referring to.
And ebay sells everything (including Mitchelin Pilot Super Sport). According to your logic, you got some junk tires my friend
Nah nah, I'm just teasing.
In all seriousness though. You should not feel like you have to defend your choice of tires.
After all we are just suggesting to new member what we think is a good tire.
My suggestion is that if your budget is for a tire under $250 a pop, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta is the best in that category.
