Meaty Beasts!!!
I have purchased (4) 19x8.5 wheels for my 06 X. I want to try to reduce the wheel gap, while keeping the rough ride to a minimum. I have been looking through the forums, as well as fitment guides, and general net searches to find out what I can, and cannot fit on these wheels without any luck as far as the size I am looking at.
The fitment guides all indicate that with a 235 50 19 I will be almost two inches in diameter larger than stock. By the looks of it it looks like it would work, my main concern is the control arms and possible rubbing when turning.
My X has all stock suspension and it will remain so. I use the car in the snow during the winter and want to keep the clearance, and from past experience messing with the suspension can be problematic.
I have been looking at many different sizes of tire but I want to keep at least a 45 series on the wheel. I was in hopes that a 50 series would work some how, all the way around, again I don't want to sacrifice ride quality for a larger rim necessarily.
Any ideas on how large of a tire can fit a 19 x 8.5 on the 06 X with stock suspension?
Thanks everyone!

I've got OEM rays with 255/45/19's on my 06 X . I needed to roll the rears.

If you go 2" taller, remember your speedo will be WAY off, and your acceleration will suffer.
I had the factory 18" sport wheels, I went to 19" wheels with 245 40 19 and my speedo is bang smack on the money (by GPS).

So after reviewing the replies, and looking into sizing a little harder I'm thinking a 245 45 19 is going to most likely be the tire I am looking for. Again I'm on 9.5" wide rims and I don't want to rub if at all possible, but still don't want a huge wheel gap.

255 is a bit wider then I was thinking. Still my concern is with rubbing with a 45 series tire, I've looked at a lot of sedans with 245 40 19's and there seems to be considerable space available for a taller tire. I have to order the tires in 245 45 19 so I want to be as sure as I can be.
Welp Im trying to fit 45 series on a 8.5" rim with +35 offset. Found a tire shop today that is willing to put a tire on a wheel and put it on the front to see if it will rub. So tomorrow or Saturday we will find out.
