New 19s for Sedan - What Tire Size?

I am purchasing 19x8.5 wheels for my Sedan and wanted to know what tire size to go with:

245/40/19 or 245/35/19

I am not going with a staggared setup. I know the 40 series profile will give me additional sidewall integrity and a better ride. The 35 series profile will look cleaner but probably have a more harsh ride. Has anybody used a 245/40/19 tire and wheel setup? Pics?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Dave

i thnk 245/35/19 will be the right size. Its the most min off of the stock diameter and ur speedo won't be that far off.

I have the 245/40/19 and I think this is the best set-up for the 19's. I have no speedo problems and the ride is much better then I anticipated.

Here's a link to check tire sizes. I have the 40's on 19's on my sedan and just had it lowered on Tein H-Techs....the 40's are the closest to the stock size. If you go with 35's you'll have more of a gap.

The Driver:

So you would recommend the 245/40/19 setup. I am going with a 38mm offset and my car is lowered (.5 inches) on a stock 350z suspension. What offsets are you running on your 19s and Tein suspension? Any rubbing issues as a result of running 40 series profile?

Yes I would recommend the 245/40/19 setup. The ride is really no different that stock, in my opinion and the rim/tire size is the closest to stock so there's no problems there. I believe my offsets are 42mm....I remember I didn't want to go to extreme (just didn't know how it would fit) so I didn't get the 38mm, even though the guy told me that 38mm would "fit perfectly"....now I wish I had gone 38mm for a slightly wider stance.

I have the H-Techs which is suppose to drop the car about 1in. Currently, after about 2 weeks, a have 2 finger clearance in back and maybe 2.5 fingers in the front. I sits perfectly for my taste with no rubbing. I do have to say that after lowering the car, I've heard a few more rattles that I will need to get rid of....but since you lowered your car you probably already know what I'm talking about. I'll try and shoots some pics when I go to lunch.

Pics would be great (TheDriver). I am fairly dead-set on the ADR Sterlings, with 19x8.5s front and 19x9.5s rear, I just don't know if it will fit right (on my 05 sedan)....?

The Driver:

If you get a chance, would you mind taking a full side angle picture of your car from directly in front of you? What I am trying to determine is whether or not the sidewall of the tires look too beefy - the only real reason for me to go with a 245-35-19 setup. If the 245-40-19 looks just as nice, this would be my choice.

Thanks for all your help.

Dave

I am running 19x8.5 +38mm with 245/40/19 tires. I am dropped a little over an inch with HKS Hipermax LS coilovers. I have absolutely no rubbing. The +38mm offset with 8.5 inch wide wheels is the perfect offset IMO.

Skeleton-awesome
Thanks for the help. I believe I can get the ADRs in 19x8.5 front at + 38 and the rears at 19x9.5 at + 48, and everyone is under the impression that they will fit (245/40/19 front, 265/35/19 rear).

One more question for each of you. How much harsher is the ride with your current set-ups. I am a really big stickler for comfort, and definetely know I'll need a drop, so I care about the least amount of gap (read: hopefully none), but retaining a wonderful (read: like factory/not jarring) ride.
My 04 350z was dropped with Eibachs on 19s, and whooooooo-boy, that sucked.....

Well my ride is not a comfy as stock, that's for sure, but I started with the sport suspension so I was used to a firmer ride. I went with the Hipermax LS suspension because it was specifically designed for the Luxury Sedan (hence LS).

Overall though the ride is not rough or jarring, but very firm.

I also have the sport suspension, and its definetely firm, but that's about as firm as I'd want it to feel...

The ride is slightly stiffer (definitely not jarring) than the standard sport suspension...and that's with the H-Tech drop and 19's on 40 profile tires. You will only notice the difference because you're specifically looking for it...otherwise the average person wouldn't notice....I think the 19X8.5 on 40's with +38 offset is the way to go....can't comment on the staggered setup....have no experience with that.

Babyboy I will get that pic up this afternoon....
