please recommend a good all season tire...

2003 G35 sedan...with sport package.

current size is 215/55R17

i currently have the tires that came on it...the Bridgestone Potenzas

not too thrilled with this tire, especially in the rain during start off or in curves.

can anyone suggest a better alternative? please keep in mind that i don't need a racing tire or a snow tire....just something that would be ideal for both dry and wet conditions (rain, but not snow).

also, low road noise would also be great.

thanks!

^ what if you go with a 45 series instead? 55 is hella chubbs imo. however, i know little in regards to the sedan.

I hear Avons are a great tire for AS. Also consider going to a 235-50-17. This is will not screw up your speedo either and should make for better dry handling.

and i can mount those on my existing rims? (forgive the ignorance please...i know absolutely nothing about rims/tires).

have any potential tires been reviewed by an independent party without any bias? something like consumer reports, but someone who knows ONLY tires?

any ideas?

also, regarding the falken ziex ze-512 tire, can these be rotated or not? and if i were to go with the falken in a slightly different size such as 235/50R17, would these fit on my existing rims? and would they pose any potential problems?

thanks for the answers already, i really appreciate your input!

Read all the all-season tire reviews on www.tirerack.com - it should tell you everything you need to know about which ones are good. Look at the Pirelli A/S tires as well as the Michelin's. Lots of reviews on that site by consumers like yourself.

^ those tires are good, but i prefer Ziex 512 by Falken.

slateef:

yes you can use them on your existing rims. no, you can't rotate them. they're directional tires. the falken's have very low road noise, and their all around performance is great too. i've had them before on 18" SSR's in 215/45/17 and they were great. i've ran other brands but they just didn't stick in heavily s.hit weather. the treadwear was good too considering my camber was out of specs.
