Chrome AME's, what should I do?

Picked up a set of AME Shallen CX's that have some pitting/corrosion on the 3D Chrome finish but I can't decide what I want to do about it.

Restore the lip/dish in new chrome plating with a silver face
OR
Powdercoat lip/dish in gloss black with a matte black face w/gold or silver rivets

What y'all think?

Also, BONUS... I have no idea what kind of lugs to get:

It's no secret that I'm a fan of chrome wheels if they are a simple design. That being said on a BS coupe I'm not a fan at all, there's just not enough contrast for me. If it was my decision I'd sell the current rims and keep looking. I bet that doesn't help though so good luck with whatever you do.

I agree Those wheels are about 20 years past their days of looking good
Casting my vote to sell as well

I think I'd rather keep them considering I just bought them for $700 (successful lowball & seller was desperate to get rid of them asap), and it's not often that you can find a quality wheel for that kind of deal. Since I'm also on a tight budget, I was almost going to buy Varrstoen's, but as much as I think black TE37 replicas would look better on my coupe... the AME's were definitely the better decision.

I think I will just refinish and rock 'em. People still run Work VSKF which look almost exactly the same, so why not?

youre right they are a well made wheel - made by Enkei im pretty sure. nice job snagging them for so low
whats their specs?

i think moving forward i would do gloss black lips and a gunmetal face.

19x10 +10 square setup 5.5" deep lips

I like your idea. I think I'll experiment with that combo via Plasti Dip and see how I like it before I go ahead and pc.

This is what my wheels look like with gloss black dishes and matt faces in the shade and in the sun.
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the matt paint on the wheels or on anything really, can sometimes seem a bit shady or rough. I'd prefer a satin black face instead.
Black faces and polished/chrome lips always look good on a black car though.

I think doing it will help to "modernize" them a bit
Right now the chrome on them makes them look a little more dated. With a an aggressive color combo it can be pulled off.

So I actually ended up trading them for a set of Volk GT7s
These are a polished aluminum

Thinking of painting the faces gunmetal. Any thoughts? I was never a fan of polished or chrome finishes on any color car besides black.

First of all congrats. IMHO if you traded them straight up you got a hell of a deal. As I said in the second post here, even though I love the Volks as they sit, on BS they just don't have a lot of contrast so I second the idea of doing the faces a different color. However I'd go a little crazy with a deep, shiny blue or maybe a bronze or gold. Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but I'm just not a fan of black wheels anymore and the grey would be too close to the silver unless you went with a slate grey that had a lot of blue in it. Just my .02..............

And BTW chrome can look good if done correctly on a color other than black. My baby back in the day, I rest my case.

Beautiful sedan! That's my favorite color on the coupes & sedans.

Anyway, I think the polished aluminum is growing on me.. so we'll see!
