Tire opinion please.....

Hi...I'm new here but have read posts occasionally for helpful info. I have an '04 6-spd coupe w/brembo's. I'm replacing the stock Pilot Sport tires very soon. I don't believe that the stock tires are the "same" Pilots as used on sport pack BMW's etc...tread pattern is less aggressive. I was not impressed with the tires. In addition, I had an alignment problem (my opinion, Infiniti's factory specs) and my stock tires have worn irregularly, and are not worn out, but are now noisey on the road.
My question is two part. Is there a general concensus here regarding more optimum tire sizing on the stock 18" rims? I love the rims and do not want to change them, but have always thought that the tires could have looked a touch more "aggressive" on the rims, and perhaps a slight increase in size would result in slightly improved handling? I've noticed some posting regarding different sizing on stock rims.
Secondly, is there a preference on the board regarding tire brand? I had Continental Sport Contact 2's on my previous ride, Audi A4 w/Sport pack, and thought they handled extremely well...could have been the car and set up though. Has anybody kept with the Pilot Sport's, but switched to the Y and Z speed rated versions? (more aggressive tread pattern as used on BMW"s etc)
Would appreciate any advice and feedback from any "wiser" voices here. Thanks

Goodyear Tires

I'm running the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 in a 245x45x18 all the way around on my Sedan and they are really GREAT. Read the test reports at TireRack, as they top everything except the new Pilot Sport PS2 (which didn't come in my size).
