Gsedan35...

On your sedan, the ride height looks nice and level. Are the only chnages you made to the car the springs? I have an 05 sedan and want about 1" drop as soon as my 20s get here. I like the idea of running the D-spec 350Z springs... and I'll probably change the shocks too.

Where do I get a hold of some D-spec springs?

Thanks.

Joe

No, currently there are no D-Spec springs to match the D-spec shocks although Tokico says it will come out with complete spring/shock kits in the future.

"D-Spec suspension kits will include four D-Spec shocks/struts and four sport lowering springs. The kits are in the process of being developed and will use the prefix DSK in the part number. Please see the "What's New" page for applications in stock. "

What everyone here on this thread is talking about is the Tokico D-Spec SHOCKS only.

Nope, no changes. Only with the 350Z Tein H-tech springs was I driven to install a 3/8" thick spacer in the rear.

Tokico springs for the D-specs have been "just around the corner" for a long time yet. Specs and drop amount is totally unknown. It's pretty hard to beat oem Z springs to drop the sedan, their cheap to buy, of known quality, linear vs progresive and offer a great drop for those that don't want to go too low.

Here's a question to throw out there. Will the OEM Z springs and the D-specs fit on an 05 G35X? I like the fact that the car isn't super low or in need of special camber kits with the Z springs. Also, the drop looks great. The D-specs sound like a great shock with the ability to adjust the ride from firm to OEM quality. As I would like to retain as much ride quality as possible. Any help would be great.

The X uses a different front suspension and the the car is supposed to ride .4" higher then the RWD sedan. And we know that the X can use springs ment for the RWD sedan too. We did have a X owner do a post where they said in a conversation with Tokico they said that the D-specs can be installed on the car. You would be the first known X owner that I'm aware of to do such a install. Do you think you would do your own install work?

Yes, I plan on doing the work myself. I've lowered a couple cars before and know the basics. I have access to all the tools I need to complete the install, including an alignment rack (which a freind will help with). I just don't want to get all the parts and then find out that stuff won't fit. I hate surprises like that. Guess I need to make a few phone calls/emails.

How difficult is it to adjust the D-spec on a coupe? Is it a real pain?

The fronts are easily adjustable as the top of the shocks are accessed inside the engine bay. The rears are the real bish as you have no easy way to access them from the top. In order to adjust the rear you would have to undo the two nuts at the top of the rear shocks and drop them down, make your adjustments, and bolt it back up. The sedans with the rear reclining seats have it easy since they can access the top of the rear shocks from the inside of the car.

I got a problem, if both DSP7 and DSP9 are valved the same and that the drop is identical with the same springs, whats the difference between the two then?? The original poster said to get the DSP9 for a lower drop but Gsedan35 said shocks dont affect ride height, so which is which now/?

gsedan35, your car looks good!

What material did you use to make the spacer for the rear springs to raise
the ride height? I think I want to try rasing my rear a smidge too.

The DSP-9 is a little shorter than the-7; but not much.
Basically the length of the shock needs to match the springs used.

The shorter the spring, the shorter the shock.

So all aftermarket 350z springs are shorter?

Yes, all the aftermarket 350Z springs are shorter than their G35 counterparts. 350Z Eibach Pro Kits are shorter than G35 Coupe Eibach Pro Kits, 350Z H-Techs are shorter than the G35 Coupe H-Techs, etc. etc.
