Red face Nitto NT555 + VOLK LE37T = $2860

Got a quote from 350zonlinestore.com for set of VOLK LE37T 18x8.5 & 18x9.5 Gunmetal/Polished Lip with Nitto NT555 245/40/18 & 275/35/18 for my G35 Sedan with free shipping, mounted and balanced, center caps, center rings, and lugs hardware for $2860.00.

1. How are these tires, compared to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S?
2. Is this a good deal?

I know a lot of people are running these Nitto's on coupes...

/edit: BTW, same set with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is $3325.00 - I don't know if $465 is worth the extra treadwear (300 on Nitto, 400 on Michelin).

Sorry, I can’t help with info regarding the difference in the two tires but would you mind telling me offset of the wheels?

+22 is a coupe offset. If you have a sedan make sure they are sending you the right wheels. I believe you need something like a +38 in those sizes.

Good catch. I will definitely double and triple check with the guy before i order.

the story is that i got a nail in my sidewall, and instead of getting a new tire, i am getting a set of 4 + new rims... maybe i can get a new tire and have warranty pay for it - will check with them tomorrow morninig.... driving home is going to suck...

The same offset for the front and rear on a sedan with staggered wheels?

Dude...that's the wrong offset for your car. I also own a sedan and got 20x8.5 +35 all the way around. Nice and flush with the fenders.

If you want to go staggered with 9.5 in the rear, you need +45 offset. Remember our cars' stock set up is 215/55/17 +45 all around.

Again, +22 won't fit!

Nitto's..they, imho, are not performance tires. they grip and suddenly
break away at the limit. those were suppose to improve over their older NT501's...
I don't think they really did their homework...but that's just my opinion.

they look good though.

Chico, thanks for the heads-up! i wrote them back asking to double-check regarding the offset.

so, 18x8.5 rim needs +35 offset, and 18x9.5 needs +45, correct? please confirm, guys, as i need to make a decision and order the rims tomorrow morning - i don't want to have to drive with patched up sidewall (or an ugly doughnut) over the weekend.

that's why i would rather go with something i already know - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. it costs more, but it's all-season, traction on wet roads is awesome, and it's nice and smooth on dry roads. i have searched these forums for references to Nitto NT555, and a lot of people have them on coupes, but quite a few people don't like them ("crappy tire, like a rubber band"). besides, threadwear on Nittos is 300 & traction A, Michelin - 400, traction AA.

codeflux,

that is the staggered set up for sedans. Now, depending on the wheel manufacturer the offsets maybe a little different (ie. +38, +40, etc).

I am surprised that these guys gave you the wrong offset. Anybody that deals with G35's knows his offsets and wheel / tire combination.

if you want to see pics of my car with +35 all around, leave your email and I'll send you some pics. Whatever you do, do not rush into the purchase if you are not 100% sure. Remember that once the wheels are mounted, you will not get a refund.

Chico

you really can't compare the threadwear on 2 different brands by the number alone. each company will have a different scale when assigning threadwear.

even if i agree, which i don't (i mean, don't they have standards or something?), what about traction rating? A is not AA, is it?...
