Tire size choice and effects on performance?
OK guys, lots of feedback needed for this one... and from some DRIVERS please. I see lots of recommendations for stagerred setups vs. standard and would like to know the pros anc cons. Sounds simple...
Stagerred setup (performance package, Etc):
Rear tires are slightly larger in diameter and width. What is the advantage of this setup besides traction (obvious)? Does a wider rear tire promote a "push" in a corner on the gas? How does that effect handling? Is a wider front always a good thing, or can it hurt you? At some point, "wider" cant always be better.
I was running 19x8s (245/35) and 19x9.5s (285/30) on my last G35 coupe and man, it cornered a lot differently than the stock setup. More traction for sure, but also more front end feedback and vibration in a tough corner. ALso seemed to take more effort to turn.
I'm looking for some tire advise on my new sedan, and want to understand more about the effects of 20x8.5s all the way around vs 20x8.5s and 20x9.5s (staggered setup). So to someone out there that knows, or has more experience than me, what are the pros and cons of these tire size changes. Looks are one thing, but PERFORMANCE is another (more important to me as well).
