Was I sent the wrong rims? Help!

Hey everyone,

After having my rims for 4 months I think I was sent the wrong ones. You are probably saying WTF. How does it take you 4 months to notice that you got the wrong rims? Well go to asantiwheels.com and you will see what I am talking about. When you get to the home page click on forged wheels then scroll down to af 116 and click on it. Once you click on the af 116 a large picture of the af 116 will pop up in the center and to the right you will see 5 smaller pics (chrome, black paint, truck chrome, truck black, and truck gunmetal). When I ordered my rims the dealer and I picked out the chrome, but I was sent the truck chrome. We were not on asanti's website I was looking for rims so I never even saw that there were two types of af 116's.

Anyway, when I first got the rims I questioned that they did not look the same as the picture on the website. I was told that because of the offset they looked different but were the same rim. At that time I believed them. Well I recently was on the asanti website and noticed the two different rims. I then called asanti and at first they said yes they were two different rims. I then told them, "well then you sent me the wrong rims." Then they said that they are the right rims because of the offset and not to worry that I got a nice set of rims.

Am I getting my chain yanked here? I like my rims but the truck chrome and regular chrome have a totally different look. I prefer the regular chrome cause the spokes are skinner.

Does anyone here know if they are indeed two different wheels? And are the truck chrome for trucks or is that just a color? If this is the case then they made my wheels with the wrong face. What do I do?

Also, I would like to get the rims painted. What do you think would look better on a black g, black or gunmetal?

Edit: Here are the two wheels side by side.

4 months is definitely to long to do any exchanges or returns. Have a feeling you have the correct wheels anyways. The wheels you have look nice as is. However instead of painting, get them powder-coated gloss black. Black wheels on a black G with a TopSecret bodykit will look SICK!

Well actually it was 3 months. I got them on March 9th. I understand that is a long time, but I brought it up when the rims arrived. I told him those were not the right rims and I even argued for a few minutes but they just told me they looked different cause of the offset. If I can get a wheel distributer to tell that yeah they are two different wheels (one for trucks and one for cars) I will fight for a new sets. If they are the same, I will definately powder coat them. That's what I meant..not paint.

Asanti should have a different model 116 for trucks. Sounds confusing why the truck style would be different, but have same model# 116. PM James at " CreativeAutoworks " maybe he can help, he deals with custom wheels. .. ...... Anyways its like 4:30am in FL, you have insomnia or do you just go to bed with your laptop.

Gman, definitely fight for a new set, if you pointed it out right after you got them then you got a point! You're paying a hefty amount for them, it's not like you're getting them for free so don't settle for less! The spokes are clearly different and I don't see how that can be related to the offset..

As far as powdercoating, go with black.. these are just some random gunmetal Volks on a black G to give you an idea, to me black sets off the chrome lip a lot more.

Yeah the more I think about I am getting super pissed off. I questioned my rims on several occassion. When I firsted recieved them I noticed they looked different and said something. While they were mounting them on the car it so happen that the front wheels would not clear the brembos so they had to reorder the front rims. When the second set came I questioned the rims again, and the store owner and I went on Asanti's website and agreed they looked different. He then called his distributer and they told him that they had to use that spoke because offset and because they are 19. I was ok like a dumbass. If you look on asanti's website the only ones with that spoke are the 22's and 24's. I should have not accepted them. I am going to call them this morning and if they don't fix it, I am taking them to small claims court.

Well see what I found in the Asanti website gallery, so these are 20" with the thicker spokes, what are they doing on a GS if they're truck rims? I guess you have to specify which ones you want when you order them... but still, item doesn't match description so you have the right to go after them.

Honestly, I am so fed up with this car. Everthing has been an issue. I have so damn $$ into this thing and it has been nothing but problems. I could do it all over again, I would have bought a Z06, Viper, or some other luxury sport like BMW 645.

Hey don't you worry, it will all change when you get her back. I always believed in buying a fast car from the factory and never thought I'd get anything more than tint and clear corners for mine. But now 3 months later I have more money into my car than miles I've put on it. You just can't stop.

yeah I know what you mean. I never planned on spending so much money or else I would have bought a more expensive car......well I am making a lot more money now than when I first bought the car so I would have not been able to afford the other cars at that time anyway.

I just got off the phone with lexani (they make asanti) and I acted like I wanted to buy some wheels and asked what the difference between the two wheels would be. The guy told me the truck is for trucks, but when I told him already bought the rims and they sent me trucks he started going into offsets again......same chit they did to me last time. He told me to call back in a couple of hours when the tech gets there and he will tell me why they used the truck spoke.
