Anyone know how to remove the ashtray on an '05 for EDFC?
Anyone know how to remove the ashtray on an '05 for EDFC?
So my flex/EDFC/Stoptech install is almost done, but the EDFC mounting location is up in the air. I want to do the ashtray install, but don't know how to remove that part of the console.
Anybody done it or know how to do it?

Yes, got it done, but wasn't easy. Put a taped up screwdriver under the console (in front of the shifter boot) and pull it up, then remove the 4 screws and wires holding the astray to the console.
I really butchered mine to get it to fit, I'm going to get a new one and do it again so the clicky lock still works. Just know that you have to solid mount it to the top of the metal piece of the ashtray, ther isn't enough clearance to have it pivot with the ashtray door.

This is for the 350Z, but it works the same way on our cars. Just put the screwdriver in the shown spot, then lift the thing up. Fours clips will pop out, then you pull the ashtray and console toward the rear of the car.
The only wires you will see are for the lights in the ashtray and the hazard switch. I had to get battery power from the NAV unit above the glove compartment. If you try and pull battery power from the hazard switch it will activate the hazards. There are probably more battery sources, but I just looked for yellow wires and found them in the NAV.

IM glad you posted today. Look what I received today. I have been reading the instructions and I have to say they make no sense at all. Do you have any install tips. I like the idea of installing edfc in the ash tray. Your car looks great. Love the GT-Cs

Thanks, I am going out right now, but I'll try and put up some tips tomorrow. Installing in the car is tricky with the EDFC, you have to be very careful about mounting them on the shocks or there won't be enough adjustment range. Running wires is pretty ugly too. It is going to be a long post, there is a whole lot to say. Ugh.
Those Cusco's may not give much adjustment, though. They were designed to give more camber, not to take it out. Maybe you'll be ok, but just be aware.
