but to keep the circumfrences of the tires relatively close to the stock ones, you'd have to go with lower aspect ration tires with bigger rims... that'll probably help a little, but the wheel well gap will remain about the same unless you lower the car.....

True enough. I went with wheels a smidge taller so I wouldn't have to lower my car. Some guys go with wheels a smidge smaller so they either have to lower it, or so they can lower it if they want to.

Re: M45 18s on G....
true enough, but i would think most people would WANT to get springs/coiolovers to lower the car and get the better handling anyway. besides, increasing the diameter of the wheel throws off the speedometer, and hurts performance. getting bigger rims in the first place hurts performance though since you're increasing the rotational mass, but increasing the overall diameter hurts it even more, though i'm not sure how MUCH more...
Re: M45 18s on G....
Putting bigger wheels throws off your speedometer and your odometer just like putting smaller wheels does, but at least it does it in your favor, buy indicating less miles than you've driven, instead of putting more miles on your odometer like putting smaller wheels on does, much less worse gas mileage. Of course, in both cases we're talking differences so small I don't think anybody could notice..
