Toyo T1-Rs are noisy

Just mounted GT-Cs with the T1s and the tire noise is just a lil better than the old Pilot sports. I was hoping for a quieter ride. Anyways I am very happy with the rims I am still waiting for my sways so I can have it installed along with the coil-overs. Will post pix when all's done

You're going from the stock 18s to new 19s? Wouldn't the lower profile tires be partly to blame?

I doubt it. In truth, the stock Michelins were driving me crazy below 40 mph. The noise entered the cabin even with all the windows closed. I thought maybe new tires would eliminate a lot of the noise. Oh well, guess thats the price to pay for Z rated tires.

Going from stock to +1 or +2 wheel/tire combination will increase road feel and noise. It's just physics. But it should not be too loud or noticeable.

If you're experiencing discomfort, you should check your tires pressure 'cause it is very likely the tire shop overinflated them causing excessive road noise.

Tires are always overinflated from the shop to seat the bead.

Ditto, I checked the pressure is 33 psi. The decal on our doors said to inflate to 35 psi, but thats on the factory tires. So should I inflate it to 35 psi or it don't really make a difference ( 2 psi ) ?

I went up a size and put on Pilot Sport PS2's on and there is way less noise even though I went up a size. Love this tire.

I've run plenty of 19" tires, different brands, different sizes, and different rims. These T1-R's are the noisiest yet...

I replaced my front T1S with T1R and I believe they are noisier at highway speeds. Tire pressure and everthing else stayed the same and on anything but smooth pavement I find them noiser than before. I was actually expecting them to be quieter given the salesmans pitch and the dramatic noise improvement at low speeds. The T1S's suffered from some bad feathering that drove me to replace them.

I'll be looking elsewhere when the rears are wear out.

Toyo's are cheap.. just like Nitto's they are going to have a lot of road noise. Continental, Bridgestone and Pirelli tend to have the least amount of noise (from personal knowledge), but you pay for what you get ($1600.00 for a set of tires instead of $1000.00).

How does the handling + grip of the T1-R's compare to the pilot's?

The noise of the pilot's does not really bother me that much (I think I am the only one who thinks this way) . Try daily driving on a set of yokohama A048's or a set of Falken Azenis RT-215 (I ran both on my previous cars) and you will know what I mean

I agree, there is some road noise from my Pilots but it's less bothersome than other tires I have tried. The bottom line is this, most tires will get louder as they get older. Some so loud it's unbearable. The Pilots never become unbearable and last much longer.
