HKS RS Installed/Impression
I have just installed HKS Hipermax RS Coilover today. During the drive up to the shop, I was worried that the coilover might be too stiff for Boston roads.
Install:
The install was very straight forward. It took us 3 hours to complete the install, and another 2 hour or so messing with the height adjustments. The front was easy we did it without taking the wheels off. But the rears we have to take things apart to adjust the height because the springs were putting too much pressure on the locking plates that we cannot loosing it up.
This coilover default height setup was almost like stock, but after the adjustments. I got it down to almost no gap in the rear, and about 1~1.5 finger gap in the front.
I haven’t touched the dampening settings yet, the default is 20 clicks away from the stiffest setting.
Ride:
In the back roads the roads were bumpy, but the car took it really well much better than stock. I don’t hear the dash cracking when going over crappy roads. The car is definitely more stable and comfortable than stock.
Drive:
The handling is much better; the car does not shift as much during accelerating or braking. And under hard braking conditions the car felt much more stable, the rear does not break loose as easy. In the turns the car rolls much lesser, the steering is slightly lighter and direct. And over all the cars movement is much smoother transitions, power slide in wet in the back roads does it much cleaner, progressive , and under control.
Conclusion:
I’m very happy with my decision on this coilover; I think it’s a great compromise performance/comfort. I will fine tune it in the following week; I am planning to go 5 clicks stiffer dampening for street use. And up coming Auto x I will go up even more.

right now I find that Front 15, rear 20 click works pretty well in Auto x/street. With the ladies on board i will do full soft while driving around downtown shopping, its much softer than stock.

WOW if you can handle it on Boston roads... i think i can handle it on Los Angeles roads... but im curious on how much softer the LS is
