Break Pads Replacement Costs (Please respond ASAP)

My car went nuts this morning ... the BREAK, SLIP, VDC OFF lights didnt want to go off ... so i freaked out and left the car at the dealer first thing in the morning. Then i called my brother and he was like "they are so going to rip u off" so i'm wondering for those that have changed break pads already how much did it cost u ... and did u do it through infiniti or somewhere else?

thanks in advance

P.S i told them to not change anything and call me with the estimate price ASAP so i'll decide what to do once they do that

You can change the brake pads yourself. It's relatively easy.

You can by the OEM-like pads at tirerack for like 24 bucks. http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...lar=&brand=all And with the Brembos, its super easy to change yourself.

she drives a manual tranny, so she's not covered under the warranty i don't believe..

if you can, change the pads yourself, cause it is relatively easy and you can get pads with less brake dust if you want..

Sorry Blue but you have the Brembo's (me too) so Infiniti will not warranty them. On a side not I just changed mine about 2 mo ago and here is what I did. If you cant change them your self, just order some Hawk HPS pads, front and rear and take them to a break shop or car shop you can trust to install. I ordered mine from the Tire Rack and had a Big 10 tires turn my rotors and install my pads. I think I paid about $140 for the pads and $50 for the labor. Not a bad price at all and you wont have the break dust problem any more.

get the Hawk, or Project Mu's. super less amounts of dust, and better than oem. then diy, or get someone to do them for you. dealers are rippos.

Whatever you do don't go to the dealer. I just had mine done (30k miles). I ordered my own Hawk pads ($140) and brought them to the dealer to have them installed while I was getting some warranty work done. They charged me $500 to machine and install the pads!! They claimed that this is a luxury vehicle so the machine they use is very expensive and it takes 3-4 hours. Lesson learned, even when you bring your own parts - they find a way to get you.

Buy the hawk pads and go to a brake shop for the install.

what the ... ?!?!?! 500 ????? there is no way i'm paying that ... i told them not to do anything until they get my approval ... they have my car now and they should call me soon with an estimate so i think i will just tell them to leave it as is and i will take it back home and order them online and have my brother and another friend of mine that is a mechanic change them ... this is absolutelly rediculous ...

I'm really happy with the new Satisfied Pro Ceramics from Tire Rack. Good price for ceramics and very little dust and zero noise.

I used Project Mu B-Force pads on my Brembos. The total for all 4 pads were something under $150 I think. Put them in yourself. Its pretty easy. Use a lot of brake quiet though.

The brembos are super easy to change pads on. I have the $24 pads from tire rack on the street and track (autobahn @100 degrees outside temp) They are great and very very very little dust compared to stock pads. If you have no luck maybe we can change them @ the next JGTCA meet
