wheel mounting

i was mounting my new wheels on my car i put the back on no problem then when i went to put the fronts on they wouldnt fit on right. So i took them off and noticed the stock brembo rotor has a little screw sticking out of it with a cover on it. I unscrewed it and it seemed to serve no perpose. I then went and istalled me rims and they went on fine they were hitting the srew. Any one else experience this is this ok to do?

Wheel size?

I'm relatively new to this forum Alan, but if you have the 17" wheels, the screw may serve a purpose. On the 17" equipped cars, the back rims and tires are different size (not diameter, but width) than the front. To prevent accidentally mounting the rear tires on the front, there is something on the front brake rotor that prevents mounting the rear rim. The front rim has a recess in it in the area of this pin or screw, but the rear doesn't. It may be that particular device\screw that you encountered...I'm guessing that there is a specific "clocking" of the rim to get the recess over the screw and if you had the wrong clocking, that might have been your problem. However, if your rim had no recess, then it might be the rear rim.

If you have 18" wheels, then I don't know why you can't mount any tire any place (direction of rotation excluded). As I understand it, the 18" rims are the same front and back as well as tire size. Hope this helps

alan21, Do not worry, they put that bolt/spacer on to prevent you from rotating the rear tires/rims to the front.

You can remove it with no harm......I had to remove them as well to mount my winter tires......
