I don't think it occured to pentangle that BBB may have unknowingly interrupted someone tampering with his wheels......in which case he would not have know a thing about the issue until too late.

someone was trying to steal your rims for sure. Same thing happened to me once. Car started shaking about 5 min after driving. Pulled over to find 4 of my lugs loose. Someone was interupted while attempting to take your wheels. Just have the dealer replace them, say u dont know wtf happened and u didnt touch anything.

On a side note, over tightening the lugs wont do something like that....actually its impossible to. Only under tightening. So if you are sure u tightened them then its obvious someone tried stealing them.

I'm a little unclear about this statement. 3 of the wheel nuts are missing so you ran back home to get the extra wheel nuts. Were they lying on the ground where you parked it at home? Or did you happen to have 3 extra wheel nuts lying around somewhere?

I had a similar experience where someone tried to steal my wheels on my old Integra GSR. I was backing out and heard a clunking sound from my left rear wheel so I got out and saw that 3 of the 4 lug nuts were on the ground and only one loose nut was holding the rim on. Funny thing is the night before my wife (light sleeper) heard the alarm go off in the middle of the night but I didn't hear it since I was sound asleep. Had she woken me up I would have been out there with just my boxers and my sig sauer 9mm in front of me. The alarm must have gone off and scared them away.
