Brake Wear Complaint

Tried to post this under TSB Technical. No active button. Brakes are gone at 11K miles. Dealer says this is normal. I don't believe it. Know there is a TSB Warranty Service for Rears, but not fronts. Do any members actually have the address for Infiniti Customer Service in the US and have contacted them over this premature brake wear issue?

Thanks

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

Growler,

I just had my 11K mile oil change and I asked the service manager do give me a quit inspect of the brake pads. With 11K on the car, they said the pads were at 80% and I should have plenty of life left on them. I asked for the inspect because I've heard the early warning tone go off. they wrote down on my receipt that there is 80% left. So, if I go back for my next oil change and there's 30% left, I'll know they were BSing me!

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

Just wondering what you did about your brakes. I just got my car back from the 15,000 mile service. They said my back brakes were at 8mm, but my front brakes were at 3mm. They suggested that I replace both the pads and rotors at a cost of about $500. I called Infiniti Consumer affairs and they told me that the brakes are meant to wear fast. Sounds like BS to me. I might call consumer affairs and the BBB (the number is in your manual). $500 / year is a hefty unexpected expense.

Anyone get their front brake pads and rotors covered under warranty???? Thanks.

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

I posted complaint on inferior brake pads/rotors a couple of months ago. G35's appear to be lasting around 12 - 15K miles. I raised the issue all the way up to the VP of constomer relations in Canada. I have never dealt with such an arrogant company. They obviously have a card by their phones with the company line written on it; ie that this kind of brake wear is normal. It is BS, I have run BMW's for decades and never had either this kind of problem, or a shitty response to raising a problem. Totally unreasonable and not accepting responsibility for a weakness in an otherwise good car. I will likely voice my displeasure by moving to something else at repurchase time. Good luck in the US. Hopefully if they receive enough complaints and bad press they will step up to the plate.

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

WOW! Is it really that bad? I'm a threshold braker so I guess I will be changing my brake pad when I hit the 11K mark. One thing I can agree on this is that the car does generate a lot of brake dust even on short drives. I guess it's time to look for some aftermarket rotors and pads.

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

If you're a threshold braker, you'll most likely be changing pads before 11K, at least on the back. So, stay tuned to hear that squealing signal, and when you hear it, get your car in for brake service right away.

Re: Brake Wear Complaint

I'm not worried about it I do all the work on my cars. Brakes are not that hard to replace. In fact that will give me an excuse just to get the Brembos LOL!
