In racing it is very common to test different rim widths on a particular size tire. Using a wider rim on the tire will generally increase the lateral stiffness of the tire/rim combo, which in turn increases the vehicle responiveness. You may not notice the differnece, it really depends on your skill level as a driver. Although, if you get outside the reccomended wheel widths for a tire you may be in uncharted treitory.

^ no probs. they do look meaty. i'd still opt for 35 series on 19's. 40 series only if the roads are nothing but trash. basically, it's all preference. some like the 4x4 look, and some don't. some don't Not avoid bad roads/potholes and need the extra cushion for the wheels. research around in the motorsports/enthusiasts world, the amount of 40 series on an aftermarket 19 is very rare.

I think your car looks great, real clean for a sedan. I think sen_jen is maybe generalizing to all 40 series tires, but its just a ratio of the width, so a 245/40/19 is the same sidewall as a 285/35/19 which many coupe owners run in the rear, yet he says it looks meatier, when they are both 3.9" tall. The only difference is when you look at it from behind.
