I have $4000 to spend on wheels...

I'm a noob so you'll have to forgive me. But I haven't a clue what to get. I have an Twlight Blue 2005 G35X. I really like how the wheels on the BMW 5 and 7 series look. I'm thinking to maybe go with 19's (since i live in NY - where you need to be a PHD to drive...Pot Hole Dodger) But I am completely open to suggestions. I don't want the car to look ghetto, but I would like something nice for the summer. How concerned am I with performance? Well I'd preferably like the best of both worlds if possible - looks and performance, but since I can't get a turbo installed on the car anyway (since it's the AWD), might as well look good slow. Also, since I got suckered by the dealer into buying wheel locks, would they be of any use on new rims? Any and all help is welcome...

You should easily be able to get Volks or Works with tires for that price... for the lugs, you would want to change them or you'll risk scratching your new wheels...

You can get Volks with tires for like 3 G's....or you can step up to some DPE's for a bit more.

$4k is definitely a great budget. There's a lot of vendors on this board who can hook you up.

To save us some typing click this thread and just ignore the MREV part (Since you don't have a Revup Motor) and just replace it with with just a spacer. Also Dealer's Wheel Lock is garbage.

Here check them out if they still have them. guy quoted me 2500 for the 19's. because of the design RT-5 are only good on 20's, 19's make it look small.

Maya, Volk, Work, DPE are all great choices, 4k is a great budget. You could grab a nice set of volks my 19x8.5/9.5 Diamond Black GT-7s with Toyo T1Rs mounted and balanced costed 3100 shipped if i remember correctly. You could use some leftover money for perfomance mods, or save it.

+1... to any of the wheel manufactures the guys/girls just listed above me... with 4k you easy can get a nice set of rims and tires... you may want to keep in mind that you should lower the car also... they takes a couple of bucks + install & alignment... just take that into consideration

Remember--you may get tired of the wheels in a yr or so. You could damage one in a pothole. Don't rule out more affordable wheels from axis, 5 ziegen, Ruff racing etc. It could leave you with $1500 to play with other mods. When you get tired of them and sell, you lose 1/2..about $800 not $1600 on a set of $3200 volks.

Its seems to me that you want a premium wheel that is light wieght and can take a nice shot if you hit one of these NYC poth holes. I say you should go with a forged wheel and a fat tire setup, maybe something like Iforged, or Zone. If you visit the vendor forums you'll see a Iforged promotion we're running.
I have Iforged on my overwieght sedan and I'm in the city every weekend and I have no problems.
