$4,000 dollar budget on mods, what would you do?

If you had a brand new 2006 coupe, 6mt.

What mods would you get if you had a $4,000 dollar budget? (Not a dollar over)

Would you get a nice set of wheels and call it a day?

Or keep the stock 19's and throw on a body kit?

Or do a full blown sound system?

Or maybe a body kit and new components?

Depends on what you value most. A nice system is for you to enjoy...so you'll probably get the most out of it. A nice set of wheels is for everyone else to look at, and you won't see it most of the time cuz you're in the car. With that said...I might go wheels first...haha...

If you have the 19 OEM then I'll stick with that for now since you only have 4K I'll def. go upgrade/lower the suspension and a body kit. That alone will get you close to 4K. you probably have some extra and if you drive a 6MT then i'll def. get the Mrev.
Or Mrev first and then suspension and body kit. Or just go full performance (Mrev, headers, exhaust system..)

I thought you have a turbo because of your avatar and PLEASE do not buy wheels without lowering your car first!!! I just don't understand people buy some nice rims and look like a 4X4

i'm exactly in this position - '06 6MT (but i'm more like 3000) lol....tried to skim as many areas as i could:

- aero (kuruma bumper, side skirts, rear bumper lip)
- Engine (ztube, stillen CAI, Copper MRev with plus)
- lowered - suspension (tokiko/tein combo)
- aesthetics (tint)

No room for wheels just yet but no biggie as i'm on stock 19's anyway.

If you're on a budget, dont even bother with the Ztube.. it's not worth it for 05+ 6MT, not much sound difference and let's not even talk about the HP you get. $120 Ztube/K&N filter was waste of money for me....

I'm thinking...

MREV+ = $500
Springs and Sways = $500
Body kit + Paint = $1500
Valentine V1 = $500
Tints, Clears, Misc = $500
Paint and Polish OEM 19's Black with polished lip = $500

That puts me at about $4k right there.

Come to think of it tints, clears, and bulbs shouldn't be more than $200.

With $300 I could upgrade the component speakers.

I'd find a good deal on a turbo/supercharger kit

Nothings cooler than that.

Theres always someone who had it on for 5 minutes and wants to practically give it away

How much does a USED supercharger or turbo go for?

About $3k? And then installation is about $1k, which is actually closer to $1500...but we'll say you can get a USED kit installed for $4k.

That leaves you with nothing else, only FI. With no aftermarket wheels to help with traction or exhaust to help the FI breathe.

Not to mention, if something goes wrong...you're going to have to put more money into it.

I don't know if I want FI that badly.

I second the Valentine 1 vote. My Hotchkis sways were about $300 and have made a marked improvement to me. Not sure if you want to drop the coin on brakes, but I got my 4-wheel 13" Stoptech kit for about $3,500. Brakes make a huge difference on the track both due to the heat dissipation improvement and pad choices.

Yea, sway bars rock...I used to have those on my current G sedan...definitely getting a new set for my next G.

BBK kit would rock...but for 3500, that's eating up my whole budget, and I'm not going to take it to the track, just a daily driver around town.

4K?

I'd do the MREV or other plenum around ($500)
HKS Hi Power (I'm biased) absolutely love it ($1,650)
Pop Charger is nice for additional sound and a few hps (150)
BBK (Big Brake Kit) APS or Brembo, whatever, nice red calipers (6 pistons?) take it to the track and be able to go around more than 4 or 5 times probably about $2,700

All total you're over the 4k but now you have the a little look, sound, and power before you put that body kit on

Everyone has different opinions. Get what you're passionate about. Performance? Style? Uniqueness? whatever...

IMO 4k FI (forced induction) is not possible. My research shows that mod to be around 10-15k unless you're really good with a wrench and can do it yourself but still there is so much more involved then just buying the kit, (fuel rails, grounding, exhaust, etc.)

The above mods get you started and are compatible (HKS) with FI.

Whatever you end up doing let us know and post some pics! Have a friend that's getting a Greddy TT installed on his 06 6MT... Can't WAIT to hear/see/experience that.
