biggest tire on stock rims
i personally like the look of the stock rims. i was wondering though what is the biggest tire you could fit on the back and front. i know most people only go up a centimeter on stock rims to avoid it starting to curve in. any info is greatly appreciated
thanks

Re: biggest tire on stock rims
I see from your sig that you have the coupe. Which tires do you have? The 17's or the 18's?
Try www.tirerack.com and look at their alternate tire sizes for your size wheel. That'll get you close. If you want something bigger, look up specs for a particular tire on their site. The specs for the tires generally give recommended, minimum, and maxium rim widths for each size.
How wide a tire you can put on the wheel is also linked to the tire's profile. (Taller tires can stretch to a wider range of rims, while lower-profile tires have a narrower range.)
This tool (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html) is useful for comparing tire sizes to find something that's close to the same overall diameter as the stock size.
For instance, on my stock 17x7 sedan rims, a 255/50R17 will fit the rim, but a 245/45R17 will not. However, a 235/50R17 is much closer to the stock tire diameter (215/55R17), and is the better choice. Also, just because a 255/50R17 will fit the rim, doesn't mean it'll fit the car. A tire that wide and tall will most likely have serious rubbing issues on the sedan.
