Took the G to the Track &.......
I went to the local track which is only a 1/8 mile and three times i ran, (this is my first time doing so) and each time was 9.87, 9.88 and 9.84.
I took the traction off, climate and kept the gas level low. I have the 5AT and shifted manually. launching dead once and at then at about 1200RPM.
So my question is are these times low? when i search google i find better times for our cars?? NE1 know what i could get my car too with more practice or have ne tips for me. (there were no slips this night when i ran, it is just "grudge racing")
thanks

Post up the timeslips. Or atleast give us more info.
They seem slow. But we don't know how your 60fts and weather affected your car's performance.
The best I ever did bone stock was 9.3 @ 75 MPH with a mediocre 60 ft on average SoCal weather (~ IIRC 77-80 degrees). I could have probably done better, but I modified the car before I had a second chance.

you needed to be launching at higher than 1200...
- put your car in neutral
- press brake pedal, do not release
- rev to ~5k rpm - you'll feel the brake pedal sink a little
- release gas pedal
- put it in drive (or manumatic)
- without releasing the brakes, rev to ~2-2.5k rpm
- release brakes and punch gas at the same time
you'll notice that you are able to rev higher and hold brakes easier when you prepare to launch if you follow this procedure.

Ya, I know my times are slow, which is what bothers me, b/c i know the car is much faster then that.
With codefluxs launch seq. what does reving up to 5k do if you letting off the pedal after that to come back up to 2.5k??
and you say drive in D and hear it shift though to 2nd gear, then flip it over to manumatic and redline it to 3rd gear??
**i am totally new to the drag scene so i am just a little confused on some of this, thanks for being patient.

Back to the track
Well i went back to the track with the new info you guys provided me with....things different i did was; spun my tires before entering to get them warmed up, left the car in D and not manumatic and reved it up to around 2K.
I only ran twice, first run the clock was screwy because my time was faster than the other side and that guy beat me??? Then on the next i ran a 9.63 with is getting better from my 9.84, 9.6's was was running before.
Question: Is is better to run in D or use the manumatic? also with that launch procedure what is the purpose of reving up to 5k and letting off the rev it up again? Thanks
