ATI procharger installed and tuned...one word..slow

well I wanted a little more speed from my daily driver and since I already have a turbo car I wanted to try my hand at a supercharger since ive never had one. I read a few reviews and seen some people put down 400hp with these kits but I didn't want to be at 400hp since that's pretty much the point our engine start to break. I installed the kit and because I have momentum headers, berkt test pipes and xyz Y pipe it brought down the boost to about 5-6psi so with that low psi I made 330whp on a conservative tune. I told the guy I want reliability over power so that what he gave me gonna put the 8psi pulley on tomorrow and retune to see what that does that should put me around 6-7psi...still though don't like how the car feels that I have to be at red line to get power out of it.....its insane and after reading all the forums and doing tons of research these engine are so fragile and blow up nothing......I might take the kit off and sell it anyways just wanted to share my experience with this supercharger kit

Well my friend,

I had my car on a greddy twin turbo kit at around 375-390 back in the day.
Could put it in D and just romp on it; was a good time.

Not sure what you expect, you're supercharging a medium bore V-6. Only so much you can get out of that with a belt.

^ Does sound like somethings wrong. Does this guy know what he's doing. has he installed and tuned one of these kits on a G before?

You should be able to get to high 300s. Get a dyno graph and post it here.

Ok so we took the bumper off to see if we could find the problem and I believe we found it......the catch can that goes on the intercooler piping that has a filter in it is very restrictive there's like 2mm of space going between the can and the filter on the inside.......the k&n air filter isn't the one with a mesh on the top for better flowing its the one that its all rubber so no air was getting through we took that off and it made a huge difference........tomorrow Im going back to zfever to see if that was the problem and also I'm going with a pulley to take it to 8 psi to see if that was the problem

It sucked that's why I got rid of it and went to a greddy twin turbo kit....my problem was you have to be near redline for it to move...anyways I sold that car 2 years ago and now I have a 662whp sti hatch anyways good luck

Like most centrifugal superchargers, you'll need to go to a smaller, more aggressive pulley to get your boost on more quickly...I believe people have tried this on the Procharger setup for the Z/G35 as well with varying degrees of success; at some point it just starts eating belts...

There's more threads on the procharger setup at my350z
