Tranny went out...is it even worth it?!
Sad day...check engine light came on, felt my G as it struggled to shift into third, brought it in to a local Nissan dealership and all signs are pointing to a bad transmission...fml.
My G coupe has over 140k so we have had a great ride over all these years...and I know I barely post to site lately, but I had to include the forum on my dilemma- is it worth it to replace?
Of course the car is paid off..so that's a plus $ wise...but I'm concerned if I replace the tranny I may encounter more probs on my way to 200k. Any one go through this and wanna lend an experienced opinion? Thanks all..kinda bummed about this..

Sorry to hear your tranny went out on you...
If the rest of your car is in good shape, it would be worth finding a transmission in good shape if you can find one for a good price. If you are tired of your car, you can still part it out and use the money towards something newer. Good luck.

If I was in your situation, I would find a decent used transmission and drive it a little longer while you decide if you want to sell it. It would sell for more if your car ran and youll have time to decide if you want to get into debt again. I'm happy my car is paid off. I just worry about something going bad. You might want to call a local tranny shop and get a second opinion?

I'd poke around and see how much you can get a used transmission for. If your car is in otherwise good condition and the motor runs well without burning oil, it's probably worth putting another tranny in and keeping the car for another few years..... this is assuming you actually still like the car. Plus... if you sell the car in a few years, you may recover a bit of the money just due to the fact that you're selling a car that actually still (hopefully) runs.
One thing that can really suck if you're a car enthusiast is being forced into a situation where you have to buy a car immediately due to not having a currently running vehicle. I (as a car enthusiast) always spend a lot of time finding the exact car that I want and at a reasonable price, and this can often take months.
I assume you don't have the technical knowledge or experience to swap the tranny yourself? If you do... it's almost definitely worth it to put a used tranny in.

Has anyone else had to replace the valve body? Im thinking it'll be a b#*+ to find and have someone with experience on our cars to properly diagnose and replace. Thanks every 1 for the opinions, even the don't be a woman comment haha..
