Occasionally harsh/clunky 3-4 shift
I've read about the 2-3 shift in the 5-speed auto being a bit abrupt at times, and mine is, but lately I've noticed the 3-4 shift isn't as smooth as the others. It doesn't always do this, but 50% of the time it will kind of lurch, for lack of a better term, into 4th. It's subtle, but it's there. I don't recall it doing this when I bought the car. It shifts fine in manual mode, and seems to happen mainly around 3k in auto mode.
The car has 105k miles and has had the transmission fluid changed at Infiniti every 30k or so miles, and is at the proper level and in good shape.
Is this normal behavior, or a sign of some kind of issue? I've only had the car a month and a half, so I'm still getting to know it.
Thanks.

Wow! That is different from 3-4. From what I heard from 2-3 is good but is it making noise all the time when your doing the shifting? 3k is not so much RPM. But at least you have less slippage between the gears which is a good thing. You can always have the dealers look at it and demonstrate in front of them to make sure your not doing any damage.

Thanks. I may contact the dealer, because they were the last to change the fluid. I looked back at the records, and the dealer used BG products on the two (I thought there were more) changes:
56k - BG3124 ATF with a BG6600 flush kit
101k - BG3144 ATF with a BG6600 flush kit
The service manual states to only use Nissan Matic J ATF, but is that anything other than Nissan just trying to sell their own ATF? In other words, can the BG ATF that's in there now cause any problems? I'm assuming that the dealer has used this stuff for years, but I'm not opposed to draining and filling it with the Nissan stuff if it makes a difference.
"Shift shock" might be another way to describe what goes on during the 3-4 shift. If it shifts at 4k or so, no problem. 2-3k is where it's noticeable, especially under light-moderate throttle.
