Tuning the Fcon V Pro

Hi all, just got one quick question. just got my car back from the shop (don't want to put the shops name in just yet, going to post pics and number in the FI side later on...) and there telling me that i need to get a reflash. now i have the new Fcon out and i was just wondering why i would need a reflash to get the idle set higher than what it's at now. (about 300-400rpm) are then trying to get more money out of me or is that the only way to rest the idle (and also take off the check eng light..). just looking for some input. Thanks.

That is correct. The FCON does not control drive by wire or creature comforts. The stock ECU controls the throttle (idle, speed limiter, rev limiter on some cars) and of course manages the CEL system. Check out UpRev.com and look up Osiris.

yeah I just went ahead and did the reflash. Well my throttle is controled by the blitz throttle control.

Your throttle is controlled by the factory ECU. The FCON does not control the electronic throttle. The Blitz controller only manipulates the input to the ECU for your throttle peddle not the output to the throttle itself. It is probably safest to remove that part altogether so that your factory ECU is not getting false information, and the piggy back FCON isn't having to manipulate even more random information.

You can raise your idle with a consult II or a cipher by 200RPM more than stock

Thanks for the information, got something else to ask. I'm in the military in San Diego and in order to get base stickers they need a smog inspection to see if it passes emissions. I don't need it to register (from a different state..) and was looking at some possibilities to get it to pass that part. any suggestions???

Assuming you do not have "connections", the best shot of passing short of pulling everything off is to have the cats back in and hot when they do the test. You are SOL if they do a visual check.
