Rotory Forged Light Weight Forgestar Wheels for Infiniti G35 Coupe & Sedan!!
Need 4 Speed Motorsports | Forgestar Wheels | Infiniti G35 V35 Coupe & Sedan
Good Evening G35Driver community.
We are pleased to announce the Forgestar rotary forged flow form wheel line at Need 4 Speed Motorsports!
We have been looking into the Forgestar wheel line for a period of time now.
Our decision to carry the Forgestar lineup is due to being one of the few to offer their super deep concave wheels at a fraction of the price of most forged wheels.
Their manufacturing process of rotary forged flow form wheels allow them to keep the wheels high tensile strength while reducing overall weight.

Forgestar's Rotary Forged Flowforming process is a unique solution to a common problem – how to make a wheel both light and strong.
This specialized process begins with a low pressure type of casting and uses a special machine that spins the initial casting, heats the outer portion of the casting and then uses steel rollers pressed against the rim area to pull the rim to its final width and shape. The combination of the heat, pressure and spinning create a rim area with the strength similar to a forged wheel. During Flow Forming, the pressure applied to the cast rim actually changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. The resulting grain structure within the alloy of the wheel is linear, flowing in a single direction.
This grain structure pattern, combined with the exceptional quality of casting required for the process, gives the rim area of the wheel huge mechanical strength, and elongation. As a result of these mechanical characteristics, Forgestar is able to reduce the thickness of the rim area resulting in reduced weight, without compromising strength and resistance to impact.

I think it would be deceptive if they didn't explain what the "Rotary Forged" series was in the first place. Through the explanation it is clear they are still cast based wheels, just much stronger than a normal cast. Where is the deception? Forging just means shaping metal by using compressive forces. By that definition, there is some forging being done in the process of creating these wheels, right? The name is misleading to those who assume that they are the same as HRE or ADV1 or even BC Forged. Just my two cents.

Very valid reasoning if trying to use the literal defination of the word forge. But forged wheels also has many implied meanings such as solid billet blank, elimination of porosity, and multi-directional grain structure. Many young buyers have no clue the differences between cast flow formed wheels and true forged wheels but see the term "Rotary Forged" would believe they are purchasing forged wheels. I know the differences quite well and only reason I opened the thread was because I though Forgestar had new forged wheels, only to find out they are cast.
If you feel I have impeeded your vendor thread, I will delete my comments.

Definitely better and stronger than traditional cast wheels like Vossens or Varrstoens . Sadly I dont think many younger modder do their research. I have spoken to many people that think Vossens are forged wheels (probably because they market them as such and they cost nearly the same as forged wheels). They are some great looking wheels (especially the F15) but I would love to see all manufacturers a little more opaque with their descriptions.
