Almost Ready to pull the trigger

Just got my new Passport 8500
Just ordered by Zaino Kit & 12 microfiber magic towels...
Have got a clear bra installer lined up

Now all I need is the car... Praying I won't have to order one and wait 3 months.

I'm 99% decided on Obsidan (don't care how hard it is to keep clean).

Have decided to go with the Journey with Prem pack, no Nav, rosewood trim,
and 18 inch rim upgrade. The only thing I'm not 100% certain about is the leather... Wheat or Graphite.

The only other color I might consider would be the blue slate (gunmetal) with graphite and rosewood.

Last chance to talk me out of it...

I decided against the sport because:

a. I like the front bumper on the Journey better (Sport front bumper looks
like a downturned frowning mouth to me). The sport bumper and
sills should have been an optional aero kit on the sport IMHO.
b. Can't get the Rosewood trim on the sport (bad move Infiniti)
c. I'm worried the sport drivers seat will be tight for a big guy and I've
already seen a few posts from big guys who said they think the non-sport
seat in the Journey is more comfortable.

I decided against Nav because:

a. Don't like that it moves the CD changer to the trunk and makes the trunk
opening smaller.
b. You can't upload MP3's from the memory card to the HD (bad move Infiniti)
c. Would have been harder to do without Nav if I had wanted the rear view
camera or laser cruse and I would have wanted these except that:
1. Don't like the rear view camera in the chrome spoiler thing (don't like
the chrome spoiler thing period)
2. The laser cruse control looks odd (looks like part of grill under front
bumper is missing).

All-in-all, I think I'll be happy but I'll also be slightly irritated that I could not
the paddle shifters, better brakes, and LSD only available on the sport model.
Infiniti should take a lesson from BMW and let you order the car you want.

As far as the interior choice, I think Graphite goes much better with BO. Nothing like black on black. Also, Graphite is much easier to clean.

The graphite strikes me as "just the right shade" lighter than black to set it all off.
I would NEVER have liked the nav or the tech package for all the reasons you list. Then I got both, and the list is in the trash. Both are more useful and more fun than the paddle shifters on My S. Oh- FYI the S suspension, wheels and brakes are all much more apparent than the bumper from behind the wheel

What I really would like to see is a driving comparison between the Journey and the Sport. Just how much difference is there in the brakes and suspension in everyday driving.

You want the G35 to cost as much as the BMW? One reason the 3 series is so much more expensive is because of the customizability, which in turn increases production cost.

LOL... good point.
I agree performance > cosmetics.

If someone was really stuck on the bumper look,
it should'nt be to tough to swap it out.
You may even find someone willing to trade.

I agree with Canuck. I have a BO with the Graphite interior. Looks awesome. The only problem is the heat build up when the car is parked. I have registered 120 degrees with the car parked in the summer with the windows up. I alleviated the problem somewhat by tinting the windows, but it still gets mighty hot when parked for a long time. Black on Black is the way to go, although I must say that I was totally smitten by the Gunmetal Blue that our dealership had on display. Tough choice!

Well, after seeing the Diamond Graphite my heads about to explode. Too many good looking color combos. I'm just really wary about the drivers seat in the sport. I'm about 240 and the seat I looked at in the sport looked really narrow.

I knew there was some advantage somewhere in being small. This is one time I am glad that I am small.

You haven't actually tried it?
You may find that the power bolsters move out far enough for you.
At least there's a chance, with them being adjustable.

I've been shopping, too, and I'll probably be going for a Sport 6M + nav + tech. Here are my thoughts...

Seats are a very personal thing, so I suggest trying them. I guess that's obvious.

I agree, but I'm just going to rip it out. Who needs a changer when you can rip disks to the HD? I wish I didn't have to pay for it in the first place, but it's a cheap part.

You only get 9.5GB on the HD, but you can get a name-brand 4GB CF card for $100. Soon it will be 8GB. Why copy to the HD? Just use the CF card like an extra drive. I'm not sure why people feel this is a big deal.

I'd like to know the maximum size CF card that the system can cope with. I couldn't find this info in the owner's manual.

I doubt there's a maximum size per se, but if you look on p. 4-37 it says that supported media (CD's with MP3/WMA or CF's with same) are limited to 512 files (or 999 if you *don't* have the nav system). Since they explicitly say that there's a limit of 255 files per folder, the 512 appears to be a global limit per card. Even at 4Mb per song, that's only about 2Gb total, so getting larger CF cards might be pointless. I hope I'm misinterpreting this...

Good catch, piotr! That's a somewhat unfortunate limitation, but it could be worse.
