DIY: How To Install Nismo Titanium Shift **** - Installed Pics
I had some trouble finding detail pictures/info when I was researching on how to remove the OEM shift **** -- so -- I made a quick how-to guide.
Hope this will clear some confusion for other G members.

and yes! It is worth every penny. A whole new feeling when shifting

hey thanks for the diy! I wanted to ask if your shaft rotates - not through regular shifting, but mine rotates without alot of force. i don't know if it was like this before i installed the shift **** and thats why im worried. what happened was i didn't have any extra radiator hose to use as rubber to protect my shaft (haha that does sound funny!) so i used a rubber dishwashing glove - big mistake! not only did it chew up my shaft but the thing rotated mad before i realized it... i got real scurred cuz i couldnt even shift into reverse but i rotated it kinda back and everything works now... ended up wrapping the vice grips in rubber bands and thats how i got the oem **** off.. tore the leather a lil bit but oh well. newayz, so back to my point - does your shaft rotate if you try to rotate it? did i break something or is that just how it is? im coming from honda land where the shaft doesnt rotate at all so im kinda trippin..
see what happen when you dont use rubber for protection?
well back to your question...no my stick does not rotate like how you described. did you heard any clicking or a crack sound when you were trying to take off the stock ****?
I guess you might have loosen up something but if all gears are working then I you will just have to deal with the rotating shaft and not worry too much since whats done is done right? Unless you want to take it in to the shop to have it look at but then gods know how much they will want to charge.
good luck and hope everything turns out ok for you

naw nothing made an unusual sound like anything broke.. eh like u said whats done is done and it works and it doesn't rotate unless i try to make it rotate... im probably just making a big deal outta nothin.. newayz, thanks!

this is the correct way to remove the oem shift ****.
after some searching im pretty sure i found a post on here that shows exactly what i caused by not having a good grip on my shift control lever (wasnt holdin my shaft tite enuff!)
this also explains why i could rotate my **** and if i really wanted to i could pull it straight up! when that happened during the install i freaked out... oh well... since it doesnt move while shifting its all good... and if it starts to, its an excuse to buy a short shift kit!!
newayz, here's the post that shows what *I* think happens when you turn your shift **** without gripping below the boot:

I attempted this this weekend and had a bit of difficulty... couldn't get the factory one off. I held the vice Grip and my friend tried turning the OEM shifter counter-clockwise (lefty loosie / righty tighty).
Then his father got a wrench that had rubber contacting ends and he tried ... got to the point where the plastic on the shifter was starting to fracture. Please tell me I've done something wrong here...
We looked at the threading of the aftermarket shift **** (UTR) and it confirms our rotational direction. Help!
