Oil Consumption question!!

On my newbie thread someone asked a good question. My warranty is about to be up in less than 700 miles. I've only had my car for 1+ month.

Anyone able to give advice about this??3

Seems like your screwed. Unless you dealer noted a "supected" oil consumption issue in a some previous service, you don't have enough miles left to do a 1000m OC test.

Question being, are you having issues with oil consumption? My '04 doesn't
use any oil between changes but I still purchased an extended warranty for
5 years/75K miles. If any part of my drivetrain fails the cost will pay for
itself. If you're having a problem with oil useage get a 3 year extended
warranty. Better to be safe than....well you know!

I have been checking my oil weekly, and so far no problems. However, considering I've only had it a month, would it have already had a problem if there was one? I have been seriously considering the ext warranty, but would much rather put that into mods if my car will be as reliable as I expect it to be. Also, how would one know if there's a problem before buying the car. Is there any way to check...where a "cover-up" wouldn't cover?

Well crap! if I would have known about this 1000m OC test when I first bought the car (when I DID have 1000m left) I surely would have checked into it. Guess I shoulda posted this thread sooner rather than later.
Deisel, I guess you have to request a 1000m test drive, lol. Maybe someone will post signs to check for before purchase.

Check you oil now, if it's OK, you probably DON'T have a problem.

Oil consumption

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I am new to this forum. Is the oil consumption issue only for the manual transmissions? I'm looking at a 2005 G35x with the auto transmission. THanks.
