Buying Old wheels..what you think?

Woudl you guys buy a set of 1 1/2 year old wheels from someone. I am not concerned about the tires sinc ethose are replaceable but more the wheels. I could pay an extra 1,000 and have a set of brand new tires and wheels or pay the 1,000 less and have a set of 1 1/2 year old wheels with tires that are about 80% tread. What would you do?

If the wheels fit your needs then why not? It's not like they wear out.
