It's so retarded that you can't use your navigation while the car is moving.

What if i have a passenger who's capable of using it while i drive?

If you can't talk on the phone while driving, you sure shouldn't look for letters in the alphabet, streets or cities. I accept it as a safety feature to protect my life, just like seat belts, and I just appreciate it.
And as a matter of fact you can set the navigation while driving, but only for the home location. So if you are lost and want to get home, you dont' have to stop, but if you wanna play around and go somewhere else in the world, you need to stop and not cause a hazard to other drivers. And dont' let you passangers play with your navigation.

I don't think there is a way around it. It is annoying but I understand why they put it there.

Yes, I believe it's a good safety feature, but at the same time, I think if you had a passenger, the passenger should be able to use it (it should recognize it like the airbag feature). It's pretty lame when you have two people in the car and can't use the nav because then I have to pull over just so one person who isn't even driving can put it in anyways...just less efficient. All in the name of safety though so what can you do?

You can do some other functions though while moving like checking your fuel economy and, as mentioned above, set the nav for any destination in your address book.

Not true folks; you can modify the Nav to work while you're driving. I did it to mine already. Search the posts and you should be able to find it. It wasn't hard; just had to cut a wire to a harness and install a switch in between. I used the valet trunk switch that's in the glove compartment that nobody uses anyway.

'search' mkay? All it takes to do that is to splice the VSS to the trunk lock button or another switch somewhere in the car. I agree with others that you shouldn't operate the NAV while driving, but if you have a passenger than it comes in handy. (part of the reason why my switch was wired in the glove box - easier for passenger to reach)

At first I didn't like it, but I understand now its better to have your focus on the road than programming your Nav while driving...

Just preprogram your routes before you take off. Cancel it before it starts to instruct you, and resume directions when you are ready to use it...

I can...wait, scratch that. My passenger can click twice on the nav selector while the car is moving to unlock the nav menu. Then, it will stay unlocked until the selector is not pressed in a span of 10 seconds. So, just stop programming and it switches back to normal VSS mode.

It is terribly annoying. My wife is with me in the car 90% of the time and she could set the nav for me. I don't need Infiniti to decide that I am not to be trusted to drive my car safely. I don't know if they read this board but just in case I must say I really really don't like it!
