Exactly... I'd have thought that a "copy DVD" command, which doesn't care what type of file it is, would have been able to do this. I'll try later...

Even standard data discs can have anti-copy protection mechanisms embedded in them to confuse the disc writers.

Quite true, I'll give it a shot.

I recall it opening the files easily on my computer-- displaying them, that is. I'd like to see if I can copy the file structure and all subsequent files to a DVD and see what comes of it... it'd be nice to have a backup in case one of my idiot friends decides to eject and and drops it. Oh, I was sooooooo about to do that. Unfortunately, we were in Florida and I was already paying for my friend's (the one who ejected it) hotel room-- completely broke. I knew it'd be an empty threat and, given his propensity for not working, I'd end up collecting somewhere around the year 3000 when the interest from his $.56 savings account finally accrued enough.
