Finally found an HU I want!
So I've made a couple posts in the past soliciting recommendations from people as to what HU I should replace my stock HU with. Reason for wanting to swap mainly is because I am experiencing the dreaded speaker-going-out bug that plagues so many of these HUs. Instead of screwing around with taking the car into the dealer and having them swap in a new HU (which may or may not break AGAIN, AND having to hear them bitc* about the DigitalWheelz screen and PAC-AAI-NIS2 I'm installed), I decided to go aftermarket.
While the D1, Z1 and Elipsce AVN units are really nice (I considered at times getting the Z1), they were really a waste of money as I have a carPC (so I already have navigation, DVD capabilities, touchscreen, + all the benefits a PC brings you)- so I was reluctant to get it. I looked into some really nice Nakamichi decks to try and keep the stock look, but that went no where.
Finally came across this yesterday:

It's not *BRAND NEW*, and it's been mentioned on these boards a few times before, but I thought I'd post it again.
I especially like the fact that with this unit, you lose no stock features or functionality- except RDS and SCV In fact, you gain some pretty sweet features on top of it all. A 6 disc DVD changer in-dash behind a 7" widescreen touchscreen is pretty freaking sweet.
As mentioned in a previous thread, there is an awesome little "vehicle data processor" addon module (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...089326,00.html) that creates some pretty snazzy looking gauges/graphics- really nice for show and little redundancy with my carPC.
Couple that with ipod connectivity/control, xm & sirius integration, bluetooth handsfree integration and rear-view camera input, optical digital output for optional surround-sound processor, compatible with optional Pioneer TV tuner, aux video and audio inputs, this thing is pretty loaded. And at $900-$1000ish, it's one of the cheaper units out there.
In any case, this is on my short list of things to buy, probably closer to this fall, but it will definately be going into my car (unless something better comes along before then).

The in-dash DVD changer is a really nice feature. I also like the optical out. Most excellent for outboard processing as the standard processing is not all that great (Much like my W200... In fact, I think this PIO piece has better onboard processing than my W200).
This looks like the perfect deck for you man. I am glad you found it. I know how agonizing the search can be, and I know you have been looking forever.

Of course, you should never do this anyways... but Pio's tend to blow their pre-outs when this occurs.
Congrats again on the find.
