G35 Coupe 6MT
Custom iPod install

I have a 2005 G35 coupe 6 m/t with navigation but without satellite radio. Like everyone else I want to have a way to play my iPOD through the factory head unit. I also want a way to mount/display the iPOD. So after searching, reading, and reviewing everything I can possibly find about the subject I have come up with the following:

I am going to buy PAC's AAI-NIS2. It is clearly the easiest way to link into the factory headunit and provide an auxillary port. (NOTE - if you have questions about PAC's AAI-NIS2....just call them. They have been very helpful to me so far.)

The next challenge was how to display/mount the ipod. There are a multitude of ways to do this. However, I am intrigued by the following set up and am currently contacting JML Audio to find out more information.

On the 6m/t there is not a cupholder there, it is simply a compartment covered by the rollaway top. So I figure this would make better use of that space.

If it was recessed enough while the iPod was in it, THEN maybe it would be viable...but like Speeddreamz said. Crackheads would gank it in a heartbeat if you cant close the rollaway over it.

Actually it really is a cup holder I have a 6MT as well.

The giveaway is the spring loaded clip that when up seperates the two sides (a little)

You can close the rollaway cover....

Here is a link to JMLAudio.com's full page of Custom iPod installs.

OF COURSE...but what a hassle. Thats like carrying an old-school faceplate around with you at that point. The same principle is being defied.
