in order to increase the sensitivity of the microphone, all you need to do is increase the resistance of the resistor pulled to the power.

Might be easier than finding a microphone that will fit the assembly...

Does anybody have a schematic of the microhone assembly?
I could let you know exactly what needs to be changed in order to increase sensitivity if I had it.

Sorry for not getting back, was in Hawaii..

So about the same.. I ended up "making" a little cable (pics will come tomorrow) so I have a 1/8" jack to plug different mics into.

Tried the cheapo Radio Shack mic and tried the Olympus mic and honestly they both look exactly the same and pretty work the same.

It's seeming like the problem is with the guts of the electronics and not the mic itself..

Have you tried moving the mic to a different place? I was thinking about trying to move it to somewhere near the gauge cluster. That way, you're speaking directly at it while you're driving and it shouldn't get affected much by wind from the windows/sunroof.

That's a good idea, except sometimes my passengers do some of the talking. I don't know how the sound quality will be for them.

Like I said in my previous post, I think that we could increase microphone sensitivity by changing a resistor. But I can't find the schematics... Anybody has them?

What about the Motorola mic that comes with their "wired" car kit? They sound great. I've used the Motorola kit in several of my cars. I found it sounded the best when mounted/clipped into the headliner. For some reason mounting it in a plastic base location picked up to much noise. I may have one you could try out if you're interested.

I am also interested to know what is the outcome of this project. I am looking around for a mic that have that digital signal processing, DSP or some sort of noise cancelling feature.

I found this crazy mic: Andrea Electronics Microphone

For that kind of price --> it must be quality stuff right?

Is there some way to link several mic's into one input source? I feel like if I had 3 mic's, instead of 1, I'd be all set
