Radio HVAC circuit board- is there more than one?

I am planning on upgrading my 2003 bose radio to the 2003.5 bose radio so that i can get the SAT button and connect aux input for IPOD.
When I replace the radio do i need to replace the control unit as well or is it the same circuit board or is there a difference in the part?

I replaced my early 2003 Bose HU with a later 2003 HU. I have no SAT button, but the newer HU came from a G35 with a SAT button, so I was optimistic it would just work.

I was wrong.

I don't have the SAT tuner but even pushing the various source buttons doesn't give me the expected 'NO SAT' display on the HU. I was going to start researching the control board, but got rear-ended last week and that has now caused me the dreaded CD ERR F0.

We'll see what insurance wants to do; there may be an AVIC-Z1 in my future.
