I was wondering, does anyone know if there are any GOOD radar detectors that can be run on batteries so I don't get the wire running down to my cigarette lighter?
I just want to stick in on the windsheild for a clean look.
I know they are out there, but I want to get some opinions on GOOD ones.

you could hardwire your radar detectors so you dont have to use the cord. search the forum for the diy

Get an x50 8500. Then get an invisicord. Then get Mike's Radar Mount. It's freaking wonderful. You could also get a Valentine V1 instead of an x50 8500... virtually the same detector (given both have equal pros and cons).

The only one that is worth owning is the Escort.
However, with "Mike's Mount" and the "Invisicord" you can get the the same thing without the cord hanging down. Do a quick search on them. Mikes mount attaches to the mirror post and the detector sits just below the mirror. The Invisicord attaches (in seconds) to the "Homelink" mirror cord. Mike's is less than twenty bucks with shipping and the cord is less than 12.
No drillling with anything and you get a good SOLID mount.

There are pix of the install on THIS thread.

Definitely get the 8'' invisicord. The 12 is too long and you will have excess cord hanging.
