Does this SOUND right?

Im getting my:

-PIONEER AVIC-Z1
-BLUE TOOTH ADAPTER
-REAR VIEW CAMERA
-STEARINGWHEEL CONTROLL MODUAL
-XM NAVI TRAFFIC
-IPOD ADAPTER
-DOUBLE DIN CONVERSION

Installed and the guy at the audio store quoted me $1000. Is this the normal rate or am I getting ripped off?

FYI: I have factory nav which is already has NAV-TV installed and headrest monitors which they have to incoporate into the new HU.

$1000 just for installation? Seems a bit high to me, but I'm not sure I know what's "fair" in terms of labor in car audio.

What I think I could do it in:

-PIONEER AVIC-Z1: 2 hours
-BLUE TOOTH ADAPTER: 30 minutes
-REAR VIEW CAMERA: 45 minutes
-STEARINGWHEEL CONTROLL MODUAL: 1 hour
-XM NAVI TRAFFIC: 30 minutes (45 if you have to run an antenna wire to trunk(
-IPOD ADAPTER: 30 minutes
-DOUBLE DIN CONVERSION: 2 hours

These are very conservative estimates. It puts me at about 8 hours for everything. At $1000, that would be $125/hr in labor. Seems a bit steep to me. I'd value good quality car audio work at around $75~$85/hr. But again, that's just my value of an industry's labor rates... it doesn't mean that $75~~$85/hr is market-fair.

Depends on the quality of the installer and of the install. Also it depends on the shop. It doesn't seem high to me but when I was an installer I wasn't cheap and I didn't rush things and you got what you paid for. Make sure it's a reputable shop that has the ability to properly do the DD conversion and would cover it if they messed anything up.

It took them 2.5 days to do this. They did a great job besides the blue tooth mic not working and the AVIC hack also not working. They said they will fix it after I get the bypass for avic unit replaced. Im having my 4080 box with JL 10w6v2 installed there also. Any advice on which amp should I get and should I replace my BLOSE speakers as well.

You may have gotten one of the new Z1's that can't be bypassed via the old hack. The transition date for the new ones is around July (manufacture date).

That's close. You may not be able to use the hack on it. No one knows exactly what the date/serial number designates the new generation, but it is definitely around that time. I know that Ducatiboy is working on a hack for the new one.
