I'd like to know as well.

Not just in the sound control area, but where it actually is suppose to be.

look into spending thousands... and you need to take your entire dashboard apart to put in the new wiring harness

this has been covered before on these forums, and actually was asked within the past month. the answer is anything is possible, no it's not worth the cost for what you get.

i regret getting factory navi...even tho its pretty nice, that 2000$ could have been spent to a double din conversion for the Pioneer Avic-whatever...those things are beautiful... o and touch screen...If your that interested in a navi i honestly recommend going the double din route

Model 2650, $460 at www.buyeretail.com but I think they sold out.
You might do a internet search if interested. These are great models.
Garmin will still honor the 2610 and 2650 units even though they don't produce them anymore.

TomToms are another option. I have one and use it in my vehicles. It was $700 though.

This has been discussed many times on here. The question is do you want a factory look that increases the value of your car or just another aftermarket part that wont help in resale. I personally add factory navigation to every car I have, its cleaner and classier looking. I did the upgrade on my 2004 G35 last week and it only took one day to do. I spent $1300 on the setup but it was well worth it. The local dealership wanted $100 per hour to install it, so I did it myself. You have to have some electronics background to attempt it and it helps when you have the vehicles electronics repair manual on disc. If you do decide to do it, dont purchase one without the wiring harness, its $1100 from the dealership. Mine had a cut harness and I had to use my factory harnes and repin some of the connectors, all in all Im very satisfied with the completed project.

I am sure many of us would agree with your approach. I did have navigation in an Acura, because it is one of the best available, built-in. But the better after-market navs can beat almost anything put out by auto manufacturers, as far as function, if not fit or form. They are more cost-effective.
I can not imgaine selling my Nav with my car, nor would I try to build it in.
It is just resting there nicely, and running off aux power. Plus it has the advantage of portability.
The 'hit' I take on resale for not having Navi on my particular car will be negligible as time and technology move on IMO.

Bracket Right 03-06 $6.21

Or go get an DD with AVIC-Z1 and have bluetooth and touchscreen:

63.99 Double Din Finisher http://www.grubbsperformance.com/Mer...e=G35CoupeDash
239.99 AC Controller http://www.grubbsperformance.com/Mer...e=G35CoupeDash

You have a choice between the fit and finish of the stock pop up unit or the extra functionality of an aftermarket unit that looks stock at a cheaper price.

Clarion Double Din MAX675VD

I am planning on installing a aftermarket stereo dvd unit to my 2004 g35 coupe. After reading a few threads I haven't noticed any comments on how different double din units sit in the console. I went to Tweeters (SoCal) and looked at the Alpine unit and it seams as though the trim sticks out excessively and does not compliment G35 console. Does anyone have any recommendations on what system would best suit the G35. Also, I was looking at the new Clarion model coming out in October according to Clarion customer service. Anyone have any thoughts on this particular model. http://clarion.com/us/en/products/20...643389338.html
