Infinity Basslink Install completed
Infinity Basslink Install completed
I finished installing my Infinity Basslink today. It sounds great...enough bass to fill out the system, but not so much as to be annoying outside of the car
So now all that remains is for me to get my JL or Eclipse amp, Focals (to replace the Alpine SPX 177's in the front doors), and to move the Alpines to the rear sides.
Right now the Basslink is tapped into the rear channels inputs into the Bose amp (via a Ven2 LOC). Once the JL amp replaces the Bose, I'll connect it to the fronts as well for non-fading sub.
I'll post a pic of the Basslink installed so you can see how little trunk space it actually uses.
I did the install myself, with info from this forum and the G35Drivers.com forum too. It took about 4 hours (would have been less but after I got everything back in place, and hooked up, tested the system and ...NO SOUND...come to find that I forgot to plug the connector back into the amp...which meant removing everything again...additional 1/2 hour for boneheadedness).

Re: Infinity Bassling Install completed
thx for the pics, i've been thinking of getting the basslink or just going all out and getting a custom box with a JL 10w7 and JL 500/1 amp... but with money tight, I might have to go with the basslink
Re: Infinity Bassling Install completed
I was thinking in a similar vein, but figured that I'd try the Basslink...then work on the "real"speakers (thinking Focals with a JL or Soundstream amp).
THEN, if the Basslink isn't enough...monoblock and subs.
Since I'm doing the work myself (and trying to keep costs down. AND trying to keep the wife from freaking) this is the best plan overall.
So far I am pleased with the Basslink.

Re: Infinity Basslink Install completed
What exactly is the Ven2 LOC you mention in your thread. Basically, I'd like to know exactly what I need to buy to get the Basslink installed with my stock Bose system. Thanks

Here's a question for you...
I was thinking about removing the spare (since I have road side service) and installing a basslink in its place. Do you think that will work?

Re: Infinity Basslink Install completed
From the description, the basslink has a passive radiator on the other side. So, "sinking" it into the space where the spare goes may not work too well. According to the specs it's 8" tall, which I think is a bit taller than the well. I think putting it on its side and tucking it into one of the corners is probably a better idea.
As far as getting rid of the spare since we have roadside assistance, I thought of that - it would have made for a much better place to hide my amps, but lets say you get a flat and you call RSA. Then what? They won't have a spare to replace it with. If they brought out a flatbed I guess they could tow you somewhere ... dunno, overall I'm much more comfortable with the spare in the car. RSA does make me perfectly content to toss out the jack and tools though. Part of my paranoia stems from the fact that I'm now on year 13 of driving a car with a big sub box in the trunk and an inaccessible spare tire, and I feel like my luck is running out.
There's a LOT of space where the spare is, but if you take out the plastic pieces surrounding the spare, it will take a lot of work to construct a "replacement floor". If you really want a sub in place of the spare, you should probably go with something a little more custom than a basslink.
