Ive searched and not found any threads on it so if there is a thread..please just point me in that direction...
I have the stock stereo non bose system but i want to hook up an mp3 player to it if possible. What i was thinking was taking one of the stock buttons such as the radio and splitting the connection from the button to the stereo, and having the radio button go to a switch that i can choose between the radio or mp3 something like this:

If anybody has done this or knows if it is possible or not please let me know, i was just thinking a simple headphone input for the mp3 because thats all i need
Thank you for your help

MP3 Adapter.
There is a product called the AAI-NIS2.
Here is a link from Grubbs Performance website that offers an MP3 adapter.

I have an 03 non Bose system with in dash cd and i just hooked up my ipod to it and have full control of it through the steering wheel or deck. You need to get PA11NIS but make sure you dont get the NISII version. Now it will say that it is not compatible to your car but dont worry it is you just plug it into the cd input on the back of your deck which you will have because being that you have a indash cd player the plug is not used and then to access the ipod or it has a input for any other mp3 player you just hit the cd button on your stereo twice. And it also will charge your ipod.
sorry by the way here is a link for the part. I being lucky found a distributer in san diego that sells them so i was able to pick mine up the same day.

Yes it will work that is what i was saying even though it says it will not , IT WILL .. I just have the basic stereo non bose , non satellite. You will have an open plug for an external disk changer that you will use and then to access your mp3 you just hit the cd button twice. As for your head phone jack yes along with being able to plug your ipod into it, it also has one set of rca inputs so all you have to do is buy "head phone jacks to rca cable adapter" which is very cheap i have one so i can plug my ipod into my home stereo using the head phone jack of the ipod . you can pick them up at any electronic store or maybe even wall-mart.

no problem ,, trust me I was saying the same thing right before adding mine. I kept getting conflicting statements about if it would work or wouldn't but I just said what the hell and went for it. If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask... if it was not for this website i would have never known that i could hook my ipod up being that ever ipod interface says it does not work for my car.
Just buy 2 rca Y cables,, but you will have to make sure you turn off one of the systems before turning the other one on.. Not that im an expert in electronics but i do this on my home stereo so i can plug my ipod into the cd port along with my cd player so it should not be any different " inputs are just inputs "
sorry by the way this info is for the NIS not the NISII im not sure if the NISII will even work , the post i read said not to get the NISII so you might want to make sure you just get the PAII-NIS

The PA11NIS has RCA inputs, so you can use a non-iPod MP3 player too.

But I do find it interesting that you hit the "CD" button twice to change inputs. Does your car not have the SAT button? If not, you may have discovered a workaround for those that do not have satellite ready cars (early 03's) and want to listen to an iPod.
