I always knew that weight was proportional to power but is it proportional to quality?

You want a heavy sub? Try the Pioneer SPL5000 12"... over 60lbs

Nope.

It's a custom made (more accurately a prototype, one-of-a-kind) subwoofer. I promised the person I would not divulge any info about the origins of it. It's nothing shady, but he is a member of some boards and doesn't really want his personal/job info advertised.

With that said, this is the best sub I've ever heard in my life, period. Before I hooked it up I thought it was going to be too massive to have quick transient response or any decent accuracy. I was ****ing wrong.

It is as musical as it is deafening. It will play flattly from below 30 Hz (Fs is 23.3 Hz) to whatever x-over freq I choose (about 70 Hz right now). It's not overpowering during normal listening, but it will handle up to 1500W RMS (according to the engineer who designed/built it). It is dual 4 ohm, using 3" 4 layer squarewire coils. It is similar to a Kove Armageddon, and was kippeled at 23mm one-way x-max. The cone is solid dished white aluminum and has a very stiff and thick 3/4" half roll foam surround.

I hope it lasts forever, because I will not be satisfied with any other sub ever again.
