after spending time searching i was unable to answer this:

I am installing an aftermarket head unit in a 2003 G35. I understand i need the a/c controller from Grubb's Performance (or others) because mine is integrated into my radio. I am building my own trim ring and dont need brackets as i will make my own if needed.

My question.There are four plugs in the back of my radio and 1 plug from the top of the a/c controller.When i purchase the wiring harness for the new radio i will be using two of the four plugs. This leaves two plugs left plus the a/c controller plug. The new a/c controller from Grubbs performance has 1 plug. That means i have 2 plugs still left!!Are they for the built in cd changer??

I unhooked all four oem plugs and left the oem a/c controller plugged in but still was unable to control the heat. I am worried if the buy the Grubbs performance controller i still wont have heat controls.

yes that is correct 2 will be left. the a/c is also integrated into the radio board, so that is why it did not work. the jdm a/c will take care of that fine. many ppl have done this mod already.

 

Of the two plugs that are left, IIRC one goes to the SAT and the other is the steering wheel control.
